Default Gear (J-Gate) Trim Removal How-To Please

Hi,

The chrome trim on the J-gate shifter on my 2007 XKR is peeling off and I need to peel it all off and then possibly re-chrome it with chrome wrap, is spray it matte black.

Can anyone give me a how-to on removing this center piece, or have a link to it from the site? I just want to make sure that I don't break any tabs, etc.

Tnx in advance.

There are at least two or three threads addressing the issue of peeling paint/chrome on the shifter in the 07-09 XKs go to the search panel up above and type in what you are looking for and you will find the info.

I have not seen a vid for the later XKR - there are a few vids along with this one that might give you some idea about how to attempt removal:

I did, but they discuss the peeling issue, but not how to remove the trim.
