My take on that sale, and other recent BaT auctions, is that the market is in a state of flux. Yes, it was a good price, even though it had an accident history. The buyers, and some sellers are feeling unsure about the direction of the mother ships future. I feel that after a certain point, the positive reputation of these modern XK’s, will see prices rise.

 

They already did. Back in 2020, five years ago, one could buy these cars (mileage, condition and of course 5 years newer) for similar monies that they are going for today.

Trying to make sense of XK prices.

Here's a 2013 going for almost 2.5 times the price of OP's example less than a year ago:

And a 2013 Portfolio (with Carfax-noted minor damage and touched-up paint) going for $15K a few months ago:

Do 16K miles and some minor work really account for that kind of delta? Seems odd.

 

Buyers market. Everything mentioned above is NA. The XKR gets more interest and higher prices. Think the X150 is flattening? The X100's are tanking. Again, the SC gets more attention.

 

I would never buy anything on BaT..


Prices are inflated..

plus BaT restricts MANY comments that could hurt the value of the car..

Recently a 2008 Aston Martin Vantage that I last owned came up for sale..

Was very agreeable on the plethora of information I submitted...clutch, paperwork etc..

They ERASED it all ..

and BANNED me from the site..

even though I had put 2 Jags up for sale ..including my 1973 E-type convt. which sold for $80,000

They are NOT to be trusted...

I think the price s TOO high!!!
