2012 XKR, 5.0, 65,000 miles How does this sound? Normal? Issues? Unable to tell? I would like to know if anything sounds unusual with this engine or if this is a pretty normal sounding2012 5.0 XKR with 65,000 miles.

The 5.0LSC engine is direct injected and uses two high pressure fuel pumps that are noisy, particularly at startup, and sound like a bad hydraulic valve lifter.

Stuart, so, am I correct in that there is nothing on how this engine sounds to have any concerns?

 

I can't say that I have heard that background whine on cold start on my '10 XKR.

Jaguar went to great lengths to suppress the supercharger whine on the 5 liter engines. I can only hear mine whine with my ear close and the cover off. And still, not much.
