I take my 2011 XKR to the Cars and Coffee get together 4-5 times a year. I wouldn't say it is a show stopper. but I do get a bunch of people asking me about it.
Here in the Charlotte, NC area (home of NASCAR) there are tons of highly modded Corvettes, Mustangs, and Dodges.
But even those guys are impressed when I tell them about the stock performance specs of the XKR. They really go bug eye when I tell them what the engine does after a pulley and ECU modification.
I have yet to see another XKR at one of these get togethers so it makes me feel proud to own one.
The nice thing about C&C is that it isn't a "show" or competition....just a bunch of car guys getting together to appreciate cars.
Also good If you are living in the car, they clear out by noon.
The best thing about Cars and Coffee is here in Texas, most of car show season, it gets really hot by noon and too bright to look at shiny cars. Even our evening car shows from 5 to 9pm, its often still 95 degrees (35C) by the time the show is over. By morning it'll cool down into the mid-80s (high 20s C) and there's a couple of hours that'll be reasonably pleasant outside. Plus photographers will tell you that you often find the best light in the mornings. Kind of wish they'd do all the car shows from June to September early in the AM.
Yep, the local cruise in's used to be from 5pm until whenever but have shifted to ending at dusk. To me, cool cars on a warm evening is the essence of a car show, not the shorts melting 90+ mid day heat in the blazing sun tied to an uncomfortable plastic chair sitting in the middle of a parking lot. I love how my car reflects the evening sunset and parking lot lights at night.
A couple interesting cars from the cruise in tonight. No, I didn't take a pic of mine.
Either a real 'S' 350 or a really good fake.
Old unmolested split window. Really neat to see all the cracks in the gelcoat after 50 some years.
There were a couple really well aged gasser's there too that I should have taken pics of along with a couple rat rods that I wouldn't want to share the road with. The welds were terrible and the structural geometry was really bad on one.

NCRS judges get excited over stuff like that. Its one extreme of the hobby, don't do any more than is minimally necessary to keep the car running and driving, no matter how bad it looks. Coincidentally, we've got a local guy with one the same color and everything only in even worse condition with open cracks from previous minor collisions. Original owner, says it was his only car for 30+ years. No interest in restoring it because every crack is part of the story of the car's journey. As many C2s as there are I think he's right. It would be somehow less interesting if it were restored.
Local Cars and Coffee is moving from Chanhassen Motorplex to the local race track this year (Canterbury Park). The motorplex only has 2000 parking spaces but gets about 10,000 visitors each month.
So for you locals, the first Saturday of the Month beginning in June from 8am -11am. Approximately 1000 cars on display

I spent 10, or so, years on the show circuit with my Mustang after a 6 year restoration and had a great time and met a lot of likeable gearheads. The Jag is a Sat/Sun morning C&C ride. I did make a placard with the basic specs to place on the dash for those not familiar with the breed.....
