I'm a motorbike fanatic (I come from the Isle of Man, home of the famous TT road races, so it's usually a given), I raced them, I restored them, toured on them, live by them.
As a biker the XK is the one and only car that appealed to me enough to lose some garage space.
Wondering who else is a biker? What do you ride? What are you into? And which XK do you have?

My XK is the XKR 4.2.
Bikes - I have: GSXR mk1, Triumph Speed Triple mk1, Bandit 1200 mk1, TZR250 mk1, XL400 for trail riding, Velocette KSS 350 to restore, and my old FZR400 race bike to restore.
My main interest is real roads racing, though I like following motogp, wsbk and British Superbikes.
I don't own an XK, I own an XJ8 and a Triumph Speedmaster. I typically use the bike to ride to the airport where I fly gliders and planes. Almost time to stop riding for winter. Gliding shuts down in December till March. The car gets used for trips. 2001 with 26,000 miles.

Had a similar experience in WY a few years back. We saw some folks pulled over on the side of the road, and decided to join them to see what they were looking at (top down on the Jag).

Me, to the car ahead of me: "What's everyone looking at?"
Him: "Bear"
Me: "Where?"
Mrs. LHR (aka the "fun suppressor"): "RIGHT THERE!"

It was a mother black bear with two cubs about 10 feet off of the road. On the passenger side ... her side. Fortunately, the mama bear wasn't concerned nor did she feel threatened, but we elected to immediately rejoin the highway trip in progress.

I was in the same boat! The wife developed a seizure disorder and could no longer safely ride with me for anything but short rides. So I did the same thing gave up the bike (latest was a BMW K1200LT) this last winter I purchased a 2013 XK in Silver Blue....just a gorgeous very fun car that we both enjoy together. Like you I miss the bike but the Jag keeps me entertained and is a real eye catcher wherever I take it. We live in Mid Ohio area so she’s put up for now but will come out on nice sunny days!

Does a 2004 XK8 4.2 and 2014 BMW C650 Sport version count? Its not a "real" motorcycle, but it goes fast and a helluva lot of fun.

I have had several Harley Davidsons (Sportster, Fat Boy, Ultra Classic, V-Rod) over the years. Once we moved to a MAJOR city, my wife was terrified about me getting onto a bike. Since I value her more than anything else in the World, I am not riding while we are living in the city.

Yes, I miss riding, but I would miss my wife a lot more.

Like many others have stated, my XK8 purchase this spring was a replacement for my Honda ST1300 with which I had been in two accidents back to back in February and April. I was snake bit after those, or perhaps 'cat scratched' and decided to go the convertible route.

Both accidents were caused by the other operators, one turned in front of me while we were traveling about 65mph - that one I cringe everytime I think of it, could have been so much worse but only ended up with a sprained ankle and a couple of broken ribs. The other was an in town put down - operator pulled away from a stop sign while staring down at her phone. Only bruised ribs (on the opposite side) from that one, but with the close proximity of time, I was certain someone was out to get me! I look back now and realize it's more like someone was looking out for me.

While it's not the same experience, the XK8 has been a great. I love being able to buzz around on a sunny day 40 degree day like today - not that I wouldn't do that on my bike, but I would have to bundle up quite a bit more 🙂

I still think I'll grab another ST1300 one the coming summers, it's impossible to recreate the feeling of two wheels on a great, smooth, curvy road. The Jag is awesome, but it isn't two wheel awesome.

I'm a Jaguar owner and an avid motorcyclist and motorcycle collector. (I own about a dozen classic motorcycles: Indian, Harley-Davidson, BMW, Moto-Guzzi, and classic early Hondas.) I've never really been very clear regarding the meaning of the term "biker." Most of the people I've met who self-identify as "bikers" are rather unsuccessful, shallow, spiritually-empty people who desperately want to belong to -- and believe in -- something that will finally offer them meaning in life and membership in some special category (as long as they're willing to dress and act identically). I love the machines, but do not need to find purpose in life by my membership in some category. I would advise them to grow up; go find a good Christ-centered church, and keep motorcycling (but stop using it as some substitute religious cult).

I own a 1970 Jaguar E Type coupe and a 2003 XK8 roadster. My bike is a 2012 Harley Electra Glide. I am a touring guy; rode the lower 48 two years ago, Alaska last year and missed Hawaii this year due to COVID.

My bike is a 1976 Suzuki GT500, one of the last of the big 2 strokes. I owned a bunch of bikes when I was younger, in the late 60's and 70's when I lived in England. The oldest was a Mk1 Velocette KSS, the most unusual was a 1948 Scott Flying Squirrell and the most fun was a Velocette Venom Clubmans. I raced a little with Triumph and BSA sand racers and an Ariel Arrow road racer. The last bike that I owned before I moved to the US was a GT500, just like my present bike except it had a red tank. I rode it around the IOM TT couse and was stopped by the cops twice on the same lap. When I arrived in the States in 1982 I bought a Honda CB650 which was my daily driver for 3 years during which time I put 45000 miles on it. Then I sold it, bought a car and was without bikes until 2017 when I bought this one.I have done a complete engine rebuild and replaced other parts to make it reliable.I have had a soft spot for 2 strokes ever since I owned the Scott and the Ariel and I have thought about importing a Scott from the UK.
My Jag is a 2011 XKR convertible

1978 Suzuki GT500
which I have owned for 18 months. It shares the garage with a 1979 Alfa Romeo Spider. I sold my 85 Alfa GTV6 street/track car to make room for the Jag and it was a good move.

I "graduated" from an ST1300 to a Goldwing about three years ago. The GW is much more readily seen by other drivers than the ST1300 as I don't have nearly as many folks pull out in front of me. The ST1300 is a gem of a bike!

Cool My Ride

My whole stable is British. 1997 XK8, 2003 X-Type & 1964 Triumph T120 Bonneville. I bought my Bonnie in the spring of 1964 in Atlanta, GA.

It's basically just a refurbished original.

I just sold my 1997 Suzuki TL1000S when I moved from Tokyo to Fukuoka a few months ago. It was a nutter’s bike and challenging to ride, always wanting to throw me off even after 20 years. It was a unique, torquey and beautifully styled bike, just like my 2004 XKR!
Btw, I know the Isle of Man is famous for racing, but I think the BeeGees were born there, if I’m not mistaken.
