Thanks everyone - I am now an official member of the burned knuckle club!!!

The infrared thermometer on the pan worked like a breeze; but the exhaust pipe an inch or two away from the fill port was not someone's best idea.

Also, Lifeguard 6 has a really foul smell - almost like fish oil or something. I ended up using about 7 qts of it.

Along with the cutting off a piece of Hex Head (8MM for the fill plug), this little wrench is also 8MM. The size is listed on the back as 5/16" and fits the 8MM perfectly. Someone else posted something similar awhile back and I could never find the same one, Steve maybe? Anyway, it's Craftsman which is now available @ Lowes here in the US. Really does help align and get the plug started and less risk of melting skin:-0
