So now I know how I can carry lumber to construction sites while still driving my XKR. Brilliant!! By the way, is the front bolted into the tow hook slot?
Alooooha and sorry for the delayed response. Now I tell my friends I have the fastest canoe in the world! Thanks SeanU!
I own a Honda Ridgeline beach cruiser but my 16yr old has started to uses it. Truth be told, my buddy who I paddle with carries his OC-1 on his Porsche's roof rack and it looks amazing.
Here is how it works. I had a special receiver bolt made that screws into the front bumper where the tow bolt attaches. With the front receiver in place I can slide on and lock in place the front support. The lower pan of the front support slides under the front air-dam keeping it locked upright. In the rear, a small hitch receiver was fabricated and bolted to the undercarriage and welded to the tow hook plate. It is very discreet and allows for the rear canoe support to attach and lock and a tow hook to be attached if necessary. When the rack is removed, the car looks stock.
I have a nifty portable pressurized device called "RinseKit" RinseKit | Pressurized Portable Shower that just fits in the trunk that allows me to wash off the canoe before loading it. I know its ridiculous but it sure gets smiles and thumbs up when I go to the beach.
My next project is making speed humps covering the back seat and using the wind-deflector as an attachment device. I hope to have something like Sherberscar's setup and will keep my rear seats.
The front bumper receiver bolt (far right) next to the front bumper canoe rack (middle). Rear canoe rack( far left). Easy-peazy once I figured it out!
Car looks stock when canoe rack is removed.
The rear receiver bolt is visible under the diffuser to the right.
The front plate fits flush under the front so there is no problem with clearance. The speed humps you see on my car leaves the rear seat in place. Kinda nice as I can remove the humps and use the seats.
