Question I need an exhaust, but which one?

I have a 2010 KX 5.0 and I would like to put an xkr style 4 pipe exhaust on to replace the standard 2 pipe system that is currently on the car, but which one is the best?
Also would I need to do anything to the engine management if I put a different exhaust on the car?

I used the paramount exhaust on my 4.2 XF but it sounded average on the 5.0 - metallic and raspy. But it just took out the back section and had smaller mufflers, which then went via single pipes to twin tips. So if all that you are wanting is quad pipes at the back, you might be able to achieve that just by replacing the tips, and that'd be pretty cheap.

I've fiddled with the exhaust in 3 jags including the 5.0 NA and the 5.0 supercharged, and havent needed to do anything to the ECU.

I'm reading from my phone, so I'm not seeing your signature to tell your location, but there is a used one in eBay, in California, off a 2012 XKR, for $50. It's been listed for a long time, since the seller won't ship it, you'd need to pick it up. Item #171126144373.

Quicksilver is supposed to be high on the list.

I think you may have to modify/replace the rear valance to fit the quad-pipe exhaust, because the cut-out is a different shape. I've never heard anyone requiring a re-map of the ECU for an exhaust swap on an XK.

One thing - don't bother with any system that majors on having the active exhaust capability, since the XK doesn't have the XKR's vacuum system to operate the valves.

simongulliver,

Instead of replacing the exhaust system, you might want to simply replace the single exhaust tip with quad tips like the ones I fitted to my XJ. See: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ips-xj-151318/

You may be able to find quad tips for your 2010 XK that will fit within the dimensions of your existing valance.

Simply changing the tips (finishers) won't change the sound of your exhaust; if you want a more aggressive sound, you'll need to change the mufflers and possibly modify other exhaust components (delete resonators and add an X-pipe). You'll gain a few HP if you do so.

Mina Gallery sells a performance stainless steel exhaust for your 2010 XK with quad tips for US$1275 plus shipping. Chris at Mina might offer you a discount if you tell him you're a Forum member. See: Jaguar XK Mina Gallery Performance exhaust 2010-2011 models - Mina Gallery Inc

I have the Mina Gallery exhaust system on my 12 XK (5.0 NA), like your 2010 and I get lots of compliments. As Ngarara says above, you will also have to replace the valance. The replacement valance comes with the Mina system. You will not have to do anything to the engine management system (ECU). It takes about 1 hour to install the Mina system. I am completely satisfied with the results.

I have a Mina exhaust on my 2010XKR, but I retained the stock exhaust (which is louder than the Mina, by the way), and I might be persuaded to part with it. Let me know, and I'll give it some thought.

The Elite RR system is the one i have, can't fault it and the noise suits the car , a lovely rasping roar and crakle on down shift.

I think the best option for me (as I live in New Zealand and XK accessories are few and far between) is to fit some quad exhaust tips rather than a full XKR exhaust.
The only concern I have is whether a twin tip will fit in the current gap in the valance, obviously I'll have to get my tape measure out!
Has anyone done this already or got any recommendations for twin exhaust tips?

I'd take it in to a muffler shop and they might have or get in something to suit. The paramount quad tips fit the XF valance fine, but the XF stock tips were wide. They looked great though, personally I reckon quad tips really make the car.

I don't know about the shipping charge to you, or what your local dealer charges, but the XKR valance is not expensive, less than $50 US dollars.
