Default Its been a long journey...

Actually. Not that long a-tall.... 17,500 miles for my 2012 Black on Black Pack Base XKR. Total miles are 27,500 right now.

Just wanted everyone to know that if your car "ticks" at idle it could be the actuators - ive had mine into the shop for quite some time but they say its fixed. Just waiting on a new chain tensioner because mine went up in smoke again and then they will put the engine back in the car. I pray this is the last time the engine is dropped! Its been 3 times since last summer

I hope you get your car back soon. It is tough to have a beautiful car languish in a shop.

Sounds like you've had some bad luck with the car, given all this, plus your multiple water pump changes. Hope you get it sorted soon and enjoy driving it, as it was meant to be.

Lothatr - If it had to be laid up in Columbus at least you (or it) picked the best possible month for it to be disabled. January is over tomorrow and things will start to look up weatherwise in your neck of the woods.

Lightbulb Simple Solution

Lothar,

Just throw some chains on the rear tires of your beautiful Italian Racing Red XKR-S and keep it in the snow! Now, wasn't that easy?

Snide

PS: When do you get your XKR back from Byers? They've had it since ... NOVEMBER 13TH!

I know you have a personal serious aversion to Michelin tires but I've had nothing but GREAT experiences with every pair I've had including Pilot Pilot Sports... so much so that I'll likely go with them when these Dunlops wear down.

I'm sure you mean Pilot SUPER Sports, but that's OK.
MY Pilot Super Sports had terrible traction (relatively, and one of them began throwing large chunks of broken-off tread before they hit 3,000 miles. I called Michelin to see wassup, and they paid me back for them.
I went to Discount Tires and the Store Manager told me he has seen a LOT of problems on all models of Michelins and "sort of" dissuades people from buying them if they ask his opinion. He and several other people at that particular store get the Hankook EVO2 tires and they all LOVE them so that's what he suggested to me. I bought a whole set and they are MUCH better than the beater MPSS tires I had.
Maybe I got lemons, but lemons on an XKR can kill people. Never again.

I know CeeJay I've read your numerous mentions, those are contrary to my experiences and the vast majority of others as they are still very highly touted on the various review sites. Sorry you had a bad experience mine was exceptional and will get them again without reservation. The overall reviews seem to place them at the top of most every test:
Monsters of Grip: Nine Summer-Performance Tires Tested Comparison Tests - Page 10 - Car and Driver
Michelin Pilot Super Sport

Including numerous people who have used them on this site on their Jags. Maybe you did get lemons and that would suck, if so I hope that Michelin and/or the shop stepped up but it seems you had an anomaly. My only bad experience regarding tires was with BF Goodrich when a group of us all got them and the result across the board was horrific so I'm soured on anything they make.

Yes, I tend to be vocal about it.
One reason.... I put a TRUTHFUL review of them on the Michelin site, but they refused to publish it although it met all their criteria. "Does not meet our needs at this time" was their reason to not publish.
I think maybe that's why they are rated as high as they are, some bad reviews are not included.
