Default Jag XK quad exhaust tips possibility

I love the look of the quad exhaust on the XKR but own an XK. I don't want to toss out my perfectly good rear silencer and saw an Audi A4 to S4 conversion tip set that looks like it could work for the XK along with the stock XKR diffuser that only costs about $40. The tips are $86/each (need a right and left). I am attaching a brochure that gives the dimensions. Any thoughts on whether or not this might work?

Thanks,
Steve D

Sure it will work and it has been done by "yours truly".

All you need do is order out an XKR valence, they are cheep - less than $100, install it on your XK, it's easy, and weld in two add'l tips of your choice.

Agreed, the quad look is sooooo cool.

Go to summit racing or jegs. Look up magnaflow for a dual connector on exhaust and then look at magnaflow exhoust tips and pick which style u want and then I will walk you thru the exact one u need . If you look back at my post with pics of quad tip exhast you will see what I am talking about these are quad tips with a dual collector. That was a custom exhaust fromn front to back that I built

Also, you can try Mina Gallery. Go to their website and see if they have quad tips available as a standalone. They have the xkr valance in stock.

If I remember correctly the exhaust tips on the XK are an integral part of the muffler.

At the same time that tarhealcracker was doing his I was replacing my OEM with the Mina Gallery exhaust and offered him my exhaust tips. I believe he advised me that they cannot be simply taken off.

Of course anything can be done...for a price.

The valance to accept the quad tips is a minor expense.

Best,

I did look at Mina. Their only thing is a true quad exhaust and is kind of expensive. I want all four tips to be functional so I need something that takes 1 input and has 2 outlets. Also, the stock dual exhaust runs straight back into the single existing tip. For this to be right, one tip needs to exit in that same location with the second tip exiting next to it towards the center of the car. That way the XKR valance has the 2 tips positioned evenly in the opening. This was the only dual tip that I found that is about the right size and is has the 2nd outlet offset properly.

From what I can tell from looking at the stock setup, the tips are slid on over the tailpipe and there is a 3/8 inch weld on the inside of the tip holding them together.

Thanks
Steve D.

So Dougsteve1 did you end up doing this? I'm interested in doing it also. Curious to see if the tips you looked at worked well.

I did wind up doing it, but not using the tips I referred to in the message. On further inspection, I found out what I would need in terms of size, length, etc to work with the factory XKR valance (which I got for $49 from Welsh Jaguar). The tips are Magnaflow part numbers 35168 and 35167 which are a right and left staggered tip that really looks good on the car. You have to cut the original pipes/tips off about 1" from the muffler where they start to make the turn. I had to use an adapter (available at most auto parts stores) to go over that short pipe and into the Magnaflow tip on each side. They have been on the car for a year with no issue. I have attached a couple of quick pics that I just took (no idea why they are coming into this post upside down!!). I should have posted after I got it completed, but didn't want to much grief for doing it.

Thanks! They look fantastic. What year is your XK? I bought the same XKR Valance for the same price. Mine is a 2010, I am hoping it fits my year as they had another one listed that was far more expensive, perhaps it was painted.
I thought the original tips you looked at with the offset pipe was the way to go originally too. The Magnaflow ones has the pipe centered which I didn't think would work. I'm glad it does!

The car is a 2008. I wished I had written down the adapter part number. This is what really makes it work. It goes over the stub pipe that is left when you cut off the original pipes and they goes inside the Magnaflow tip which has a built in clamp. I could have had this all welded up, but once I got everything in place using good ole exhaust clamps and it held so well, I never went any further. At first glance, you wouldn't think the centered dual tip would work right, but it did.

My car has a Milltek system with no valve rear box , the whole exhaust is done with stainless 3" pipe. The rear quad pipes are perforated 3" with a slight difference in size of the pipe on each quad as you can see from the picture They are centered on the outlet pipe. Milltek only does 2.5" pipes, these were soured else where at £250 each, they are great quality and you can see that when i look at others. The ones in your picture dougsteve1 look a bit light and cheap looking, don't take it to heart, that's just my option. You have to spend good money for a good set.

Had a pair fitted to my old xk8 but they were only 2.5". They will make a big difference to the look when your done, good luck with it.

Thanks. I actually like Dougsteve1's Tips better. Different opinions but both look good.

Ugh, I got the part numbers wrong! I looked back at the summit racing web site to try to figure out what I ordered. The ones I have are FLOWMASTER, not Magnaflow. The correct parts are FLOWMASTER 15389 and 15390. Sorry for the wrong parts. I should have written this down when I did it.

dougsteve - Came across your post on adding the quad exhaust and I agree it does enhance the look. I have been looking for a XKR diffuser but all seem to be much much higher than the $40 you paid. Can you tell me where you purchased it for that price. Thanks - Mike

EDIT: Oops, you were asking about the diffuser, not the tips, sorry.

You don't list the year of your car, but for at least the 2007-2009 models, the part number is C2P8245, and you can find it online, like at parts.com for $35.xx.

Wow!
Looking for your year, there appear to be two choices, bad and worse.
C2P16656XXX priced anywhere from $184.32 - $486.19
and
C2P17589 available from different sellers for $1422.00 to $3153.07

C2P16656XXX appears to be body colored (the 'XXX' part) or maybe it just comes 'ready to paint'.
C2P17589 appears to be for the 'Blackpack' option. Pretty stiff price for a 'black' diffuser.

Be a great opportunity to mock one up from aluminum sheet.

LOL at the OP linked tips. love how the Y pipe cuts off 50% of flow from the upstream pipes... Pathetic 'craftsmanship'.
