What do you all think? Gimmick or real world usefulness?

 

Very cool stuff. On cars like XJ and Range Rover I can totally see the benefit. Comes down to whether the consumer will pay for it.

Jaguar also needs some of this to pull the S and 7 Series buyers who hold technology higher than style.

 

I don't know if the view from the A piilars has ever been a problem for me, however, being tall, I can't tell you how many times my view has been blocked by the rear view mirror, where I am startled by a car, a bike, or a person being "lost" behind it. Might not be a bad idea if it scans all the way across the windshield.
