Default Jaguar XKR 2012 tyres question

The car which I acquired 2.5 months back came with front pirelli p zeroes and rear michelins.
The michelins have 6 mm tread while the pirelli's have 5.5 mm tread.
The pirelli's have these minor cracks ON THE OUTER SIDE ONLY .They are 2018 make .
To be on the safe side I replaced them with newer ones with the same specs.
WHAT DO YOU RECKON?
WAS I RIGHT IN DOING SO ?
Thanks!

The cracks are presumably the result of UV damage. I probably wouldn't have changed them, unless and until they failed the annual UK safety inspection.

That probably explains their presence on the outer side.
Thanks Richard!

It's very common in the Mediterranean countries to see parked cars with a cover or a board positioned over the sun-facing tyres. I've never seen that in the UK and, if the weather this July is anything to go by, I don't think we ever will. ☹

These are fine if you don't push the vehicle anywhere close to what it can really do, but it does greatly affect performance at or near the limit with TC or SC reduced/off, and in a very sudden way.

I am gonna get myself one more spare RIM and use these tyres as spares .

You never know when you may encounter a nasty sidewall cut on indian roads.

Thanks jons!

FWIW, I replace mine before they look like that.
I think you're wise with the spares idea.

Default new nevis rims

Went to the jag dealer close to my place in search of matching nevis rims for my 2012 XKR.
Nope , they don't have them neither can they source them.
Searched online , found that folks have been in a conundrum about nevis for XFR , XKR .
The rims have diff staggered set up bet XFR and XKR .
Pray where can I get the correct 20" Nevis RIMS for my XKR
I intend to use them as spares .
Thanks!

These are quite old cars now and some parts are no longer so readily available. In the UK, there are sellers with new stock at almost reasonable prices.

Note the sizes:

Front: 8.5Jx20 ET49 (XK or XF fit, they are the same wheel)
Rear: 9.5Jx20 ET46 (XFR fit is ET66)

Sorry. A little late now.
I forgot to mention, I prefer to run the very same make and model of tire on all four corners.

Any particular reason for doing that?
I guess wider front tyres tend to make the car twitchy and cause tramlining.

thanks!

They may be different sizes.
Tires are designed with specific handling characteristics (thus the continual debate on ‘which is the best tire’). I want the handling all around to be consistent.

I go through a lot of tires. And I change them up to address all the seasons. Tire handling is quite distinct with each set.

I've been searching for just the REAR Nevis wheels, so two of them, for about eight years now. The ONLY two I've found were suggested by another Forum member from someone else. A private person. He'd not sell them without being paid first, and it was across the country from me. If I never heard from him again I'd be out however many hundreds of dollars and I wasn't willing to make that bet.
So eight years later and I still haven't found any.

My friend in bombay , from whom i got the car had totalled all four rims whilst going over an unknown speedbreaker. The dealer there had sourced the Nevis rims for him . It took the dealer in india 2 months to get them . I think I should talk to the same dealer /service adviser . My local dealer is a no go.
thanks Cee Jay!

These guys in Germany claim they have a full set but at a rather steep price: https://www.jaguar-shop.com/Nevis-20/en
I expect you would not have to pay the 19% VAT here but whatever the import costs at home.

Also sbwheels.co.uk is a good source of Jaguar wheels. Worth asking if they can still get the Nevis model or any other 20" wheel that you like the look of.

I see that the Product Number for their XK Nevis wheels is different than the Product Number for the XF Nevis wheels. That may actually mean They Are Correct! $4,000 is too much for me though when I only need the rears.

New and good used Nevis rears with the 46 mm offset do come up on UK Ebay quite often. These are some listed at the moment:

Well…. road trip? Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve done something completely irrational as that…. Does fun have a limit on price?

Might be worth dropping them a message. They might not have added it as an option by default but might organize for you.
