It's the key dock when the battery in your key will no longer start the car you insert your key fob in this holder and you will be able to start the car until you replace the battery in the fob. Welcome

^^^^^^^^ What he said. If you look on the back of your Smart Key you will notice the same Arrow-Down symbol as what is inside the console.

You'll never need to dock your smart key if you keep a spare CR2032 battery in your glove box to replace the dead one in your smart key. Quick and very easy to replace with no programming.

You also get the loy fob key battery warning on the dash, change it then and pull never use it. There's a trick to removal as well

Must be dodgy stock, we use a lot and had batch problems last year with short life batteries

FYI, since we're talking batteries for FOBs....I recently bored a friends car (Hyundai) while he was on vacation. So, I noticed his key was slow to respond. I thought, I'll change his battery as a courtesy. The battery in his key was a Panasonic, mine were Sunbeam. Same battery, battery tested over 3.Vs. My Sunbeam did not work in his key. No matter what I did. I decided to "mic" the thickness, the Sunbeam was minutely thinner. Ended up putting his "?" battery back into his key and drove the car for a week.
Anyone have this situation?
