Only advice is to keep it on a trickle charger if you're not driving it every day. Most electrical "gremlins" come and go based on the battery.

NOOOOOO!!!!!!! A term discrepancy here!!!!!!!!

TRICKLE chargers charge constantly, they WILL burn out a battery eventually!

What you MEANT was a Battery MAINTAINER which has Smart Logic to vary the charge based on battery condition.

My "trickle charger" has a 2-amp automatic setting that (supposedly) monitors the charge and responds accordingly to not overcharge the battery. Should I not trust it?

If it states so, then it isn't actually a trickle chargers. By definition, trickle chargers give out a constant low amperage while operating.

Maybe do a bit of research, yours may be fine.

The owner's manual says, "The charger will automatically stop charging when the battery reaches full charge." And the 2-amp setting is not what I should be using . . . so I'll switch it to the correct 10-amp setting for my battery. Thanks for encouraging me to do the research!

Thanks for all the info! Now that I have been using the car I find a few things I need to get used to like the paddle shifters I keep hitting them accidentally.LOL Seeing out the rear window a bit tuff. I am going to look into getting a back up camera. The rear bask up alarm and warning does work great but that is only if you get close to something. The other issue or more of a design flaw is the seats hit the side panels in the rear seat when you try and tilt them back! I took a friend for a ride and he could only put the seat back so far and his knees still hit the glove box same with my son.If you put them back too far they pop out the seat belt guides at first I thought they wear gone but found them on the floor in back of the seats. Luckily I am only about 5'7" I fit comfortably. Of course the back seat is useless I have seen other XK owners remove the seat and put a platform in it's place at least you could out more luggage or groceries back there easier. The guy I bought it from thought the nav system was the CD changer. Guees he never used either. What I want to know is how to delete all the prior owners saved phone numbers in the system. I see you can delete them one by one but it takes forever to just remover a few. Love driving it, it a fun car the trunk it holds more than I thought, of course if I got a conv it would be much different. I really love the color Luna Grey it has what looks like a flip flop paint. It looks gray to purple depending on the angle and has gold metallic/pearl in it that pops in the sun. So far so good I am still waiting on the 2nd key fob the guy I got it from just moved and it's in a box some where.I think the one I have could use a fresh battery and is there any place that sells the rubber key pad? The one I have the markings have worn off. The previous owner says the one I have is the better one the other is pretty bad. I try and drive it everyday but yesterday I drove my VDP two totally different rides.

Amazon has silicone fob covers that work well. The shift paddles took a little getting used to. Holding the up paddle for a couple seconds returns it to auto, if you didn't already know.

Enjoy it! I was lucky to find an '08 with only 36k miles - but it still needed significant repairs to the suspension system - very much worth it!

Mine came with only one key fob - - - the local Jaguar dealer says they don't have the software to program "old" replacement key fobs, but that the "specialty shop" near me that I use might have older software. We'll see. Good luck with yours.

I believe the up paddle hold does not have that same effect on the 4.2 version.

Yeah, I thought (and do) you hold both paddles to return to auto on the 4.2L.

I put on the paddle shifter extensions. Got them off Amazon. They list them for the F-Type, but they fit our XK's.
A bit fiddly with the tiny set screws, but otherwise simple to install. They do partially block the view of the column stocks a little, but that's probably just a matter of getting use to them.
Getting ready to take the XK on a little trip this week. Will post a pic upon our return.

They look cool, but honestly I'd rather remove mine entirely. I liked occasionally shifting my F-Type, not the XK. One hand at 12, elbow on the armrest, diggin the scene with a gangster lean.

UPDATE: Stuart S posted a pic of what they look like, so no need to do another one.
After a 3 day trip of about 600 miles total, I've decided the paddle extensions are of little use, and I'll probably just remove them (maybe some F-Type guy will want them). They work as intended, but the little factory stubby ones are right where you usually have your hands anyway. Extended paddles are good on the track and if the paddles stay stationary to the steering column. But since they move with the steering wheel in the XK, they just seem redundant and unnecessary. If they are your cup of tea, then no problem.

Had to use paddles on my 2008 Aston Martin Vantage due to the wonky transmission...

Sold it as I retired..

Would have kept it if it had the Jaguar Xk transmission...

Loved the car tremendously, but the tranny was wack!!

You should have bought a DB9 ;-).. The Sportshift I transmissions on the early Vantage are not great, but can be made to be just fine. Agreed, driving a Vantage in "Auto" mode is not a great experience.
