Keyless entry problems

Keyless entry problems
I picked up my 07 XKR on Saturday and all was working fine for a couple of days. My key fob has stopped working however keyless start works fine. The car only came with one key so I arranged for a mobile auto locksmith to program another earlier today, he also couldn't get the new one to work.
As both key don't work, and one is new, that rules out battery issues I would think. Both doors and the boot don't work so that rules out 1 sensor on the doors. Any ideas? is there a reset or programming method I could try?
Thanks.

The additional key works well and at £199 compared to £350 from Jaguar its a no brainer.
Is there not a reset or a pairing process that can be tried? I've seen on the forum that other jaguar models this is possible. If not will have to take to the dealer. I'm sure the keys aren't the problem as the keyless start is fine.

Key pairing requires Jaguar software, it's not something a DIY can do. Two things though
1 - you may want to try replacing the battery in the FOB, even if the battery was new it may not have been "good", replace it with a Duracell or other name-brand battery so as to make sure it is proper voltage that can sometimes cure your issues
2 - To pair a new FOB it needs to not be paired to a car currently, most of those on eBay are no longer usable s buyers get screwed. If it can be paired any good indi tech with the software can do this for minimal cost (FAR less than most dealerships)

It is strange that it will keyless start the car but not allow you to unlock the vehicle. Your key is clearly paired with the vehicle or you wouldn't be able to start. Does the new key also start the car?
Perhaps there is some type of secondary activation required for the locking/security system.

Both keys operate fine with the keyless start - no need to put in the armrest slot it is just in my pocket.
As you say There must be a secondary activation required as the key IS paired with the car. I've read that there are 3/4 sensors that pickup the key when it is within 3ft of the car for keyless entry. All of these could not have failed at once so is there a module linking these that can? has anyone else had the issue?

I had a issue when I bought my new one last week it went in to Jaguar Saturday as it was due a service the garage I bought it from had pre booked it for me .The keyless wasn't working every time and it had to be placed in the slot to start . Jag dealer changed the battery in the key still no better then there was a recall on a keyless module which they did some sort of software update if I recall perfect now on entry and starting .

Time = money... so it isn't a no brainer if you are still spending your time trying to get this sorted out. A lot of issues are software related these days and most independent shops do not have the latest and greatest software from Jaguar. I would go to the dealer and get it done right.

Another question, does the key unlock and lock the car via the buttons on the both remotes? Is it just the touch lock/unlock that isn't functioning?
Not that this gets us any closer to a resolution, but it would further indicate something required for a dealer, either a software flash like the guy mentions above or additional programming.

Again call around, many Indi's have the Jag software and will correct the problem therefore you're not paying for the car wash, enormous salaries and marble floors they've got. Rarely does any work on our cars require a dealer visit or the ridiculous rates they charge unless you feel proud throwing your money at them. Here in San Diego I recently used Coventry in Pacific Beach for a software related issue couldn't be happier and was a lot less $$$ than a dealer would have been

Need to check an electrical diagram, which should also point out any central controller for them.

1) Locking/ Unlocking the vehicle and
2) starting the vehicle. The Keyless Start works fine.
The Keyless remote/ lock and unlock function utilizes an RF receiver in the overhead console.
Two fuses in the central fuse box control this functionality.
Fuse 19 allows the signal to be received from the smart key to the RF receiver which recognizes the key and allows the vehicle to unlock.
Fuse 3 allows the doors to be locked by pressing the button on the door handle, which will only operate if the Smartly is in proximity of 3 meters. If you can do this, your problem most likely is fuse 19 or the RF receiver.
If you're not a DIY, check the fuses, #19 first then #3 before taking it to a shop.
Access to the Central Junction Box where the fuses are, can be gained through a removable panel located below the LH side of the instrument panel.
