Default Leaky Hose ID

Nope different hose..😝

I am referring to some sort of coolant hose that sprung a small leak. Looks like a small (short), 90-deg bendy thing under supercharger snout. See attached photos.

Any ideas as to part number or part name so I I can order it and get to replacing it.

This is on my 2008 XKR Portfolio with 55k mi. I parked it since the leak began for fear of over heating.

EDIT: I should also note I glossed over some hose diagrams, could not seem to find this particular one. Unless it's some part of a larger assembly I couldn't see, wasn't in any diagrams I Googled. My guess is maybe some sort of heater hose or bypass of some sort. Not a clue, that's why I came here 😁

That is probably the throttle body heater hose. Look in the throttle body parts diagram. The charger needs to come off to easily replace

Sweet. Will check it out. Thanks for the info. As for supercharger coming off, that sounds fun. Looks like it may be going down for a while if thats the case. If I'm pulling S/C off, might as well get to replacing much of the rubber.

Google jaghelp and you will find a detailed thread for an s type r charger removal. I found it very helpful. Might be similar to your setup. Many members have dealt with that model and hose so perhaps someone will know a shortcut

That is one of the 2 valley hoses. You can search or google those. And yes the S/C has to come off.

Check the stickies for some useful information and a list of parts you will want to replace while you're doing that job.

Just an update:

Finally got all the parts in. Took a while to get from dealership and I had to order from two, Harper Jag in TN, and I think the other was Palm Beach Jaguar in FL.

Anywho, recieved all the hoses as per list (I hope) and gonna attempt to replace it all in one shot, as well as necessary gaskets. Also decided to go ahead and swap pulleys while the 'charger is off. Maybe some clean up and paint and detail?? Haven't decided on that part yet.

Should be a fun Memorial weekend project lol

Thx in advance for taking pictures and documenting the steps in this project. It could be very helpful for us DIYers.

Mopar, are you also going to change your SC fluid and/or the SC coupler?

Ask as it would make sense since you have it off anyway

I wasn't planning on it, not for another 20 or 30k. However, given the difficulty of removal, I will very likely be doing it. Just ordered a kit lol
Also looking at anything else that can be done during this time. Definitely not something I wish to get into again....unless it is for the purpose of adding 'more powaaa'!

Sorry, but I didn't think to do this. All I've taken is a few photos for myself for reference, and I'm certainly not doing this in order or per any tech manual. Probably not a good example to follow to be honest. And as it sits, I still have not even removed the supercharger. That back bolt is a pain to get to.

Update:

Almost 2 months and I am finally, FINALLY, nearing the end of this lil project.
So I ended up replacing even more of the hoses, figured while I was there, as well as upgrading the intercooler pump to a Bosch 010. Unfortunately went thru a pulley, installed incorrectly and had to cut it to remove. Had some difficulties with 2nd pulley as well, but managed to get it sorted. Replaced both belts and an idler pulley. Replaced much of the gaskets and o rings where parts had to be removed. Also, did a bit of painting, all that bare aluminum was looking a bit boring.

So here is where I am at. Maybe another day or so and I'll he back on the road!!! No rush really, been raining a bunch lately.

Couple more parts to re install, then oil change and new air filters. Been so long, gonna feel new to me again.

Very nice work. Yeah, the pulleys are a bear without a tool or pressing them on. When i did mine, i cut the old one off then heated the new one in the oven and used a power steering pulley tool to install until it bottomed out and then a few whammos with the bronze hammer. All this while on the engine. I recently replaced the main body and rotor pack to a mint one and replaced the snout and needle bearings. This time a press was used and wow what a difference. You will greatly appreciate all your hard work on the first good drive. Replacing all the coolant hoses elininates worries in hot weather and 90% of your breakdown causes. You say raining. I would sell my soul for rain here. Great job. Forgot to add, if you replaced the charger oil, on startup you might hear a wierd noise from the charger until the oil circulates thru the nosepiece bearings

Thanks!! Ya i did eventually get a puller for the 2nd pulley, made things much easier.

Another update:

So got the car all buttoned back up, thats the good news. Bad news, got the 'Engine Overheating' warning, pulled over, waited for it to cool, headed straight hone where I got the message again and found it was losing coolant 😔
So back to the drawing board I guess

Losing coolant... or an air pocket in the supercharger stole the "lost" fluid?

I hope, at first I didn't see any coolant....this morning I spotted a puddle under the car. Not a good omen.

It's actually just store bought hi temp paint for bbqs and grills, then I used a VHT hi heat gloss clear, over primer.

It was the only hi temp paint I could find in the shade of green I wanted. It actually dries sort of satin. Didn't look bad, but I thought a glossy finish might look a bit better.

Before the gloss topcoat. Not too bad, but just wanted glossy.

So I thought I found the leak, unfortunately I am still leaking coolant, or maybe it's the duckbill?? ECT on reader shows 226*F and climbing however so there is definitely still an issue.

I'm starting to wonder if it's one of the valley hoses again 😔😔

I shut it down at 231*F. Let it cool, and look again.

How did you confirm a coolant leak? With the system full, and bled properly, you should still get sufficient cooling, even if there is an undetectable leak..

Other things to consider:
refill and bleed the system correctly?
correct (orange) coolant, and enough of it?
thermostat installed backward?
rag left stuffed in a hose? (my worst fear)
sometime the hose clamps can rip and damage the hoses when they are installed/removed
all hoses secured and installed correctly?

It is hard to tell by the video, but i would suspect one of the hose connections at the throttle body or egr valve. If you pull the windshield cowl you should be able to see those hoses while the engine is running. Also look at the firewall heater hose connections. A pressure tester would make the diagnosis easier to work on a cold system. Pull the charger as a last resort.
