Loose heat shield over Silencer
Hi Guys,
Newbie here needing help. I've discover the rattle at the back of my 2006 XK is the heatshield sitting on the back box, completely unsecured . 2 questions really. Where should it actually be? secured to Back box or underside of sparewheel bulkhead. and How should they be fixed? there are 4 20mmish holes in each corner but not obvious how/where they fix.
Thanks

Hi There. I had a similar problem with mine. The shield bolts to the underside of the body/spare wheel section. You will probably find the sheild has perished around the bolts holding the shield to the underside body allowing it to fall down onto your silencer.
I basically unscrewed the bolts and made up a bigger washer to hold the shield back up. Its fiddley but can be done with rear silencer in place. I had some heat shield spare from one of my many do up projects. Hope that helps. Good luck with it.

Rear Heat Shield
Hi, very similar thing happened on my 2007 XK. I did repair with over enlarged washers and not had a problem since ( repaired in 2011). Just to ask if anyone knows of the part number for this item and what it is made from (steel/aluminium) Mine has started to show signs of decay visually. As it is securely attached and now easily removeable I am thinking of further protecting it with some form of underbody spray. Has anyone tackled this?

Flimsy material which easily breaks up around the fixing nuts but it was less than 20 UKP in 2014.
