The other day after I finished wiping down my black, xk convertible I double locked it (I know, not really a double lock in the US but it sounds better than ‘double clicking’) and then did a cursory walk around. I stopped and said, under my breath;’ damn this is a good looking car’. The jag responded with a chirp and the side light blink.
Seriously!
Was it saying thank you?
I think that probably the electronics were acting up and it took a few seconds for the second chirp and light blink one gets with the double lock” but the coincidence was enough to bring a smile and chuckle.
Of course it was, even though you acknowledged that a double-beep is an error message after trying to double-lock your XK. The human mind is limitless in it's capacity for rationalization, and simply made you believe that error message was a thank you. It's the relentless pursuit of feeling good.

As a base XK Owner, I would say that the NA 5.0L will be the least desirable model, down the road. XKR, XKR-S and XKR-S GTs will be the collector items in the future. I have no regrets getting my car, but if I was buying now, the supercharged versions are what I would be searching out. The good news is there is a lot of cross compatibility mechanically with the F-Type which might keep some parts available for longer. The interior plastic parts, head units and electronics will be harder and harder to come by.
