Default Low Brake Pads message

27,200 miles, original Pads. Is this considered acceptable mileage for worn pads on the XKR? I would assume its the rear ones that wear out first, based on my other Jags.
I am very light on the brakes, good at anticipating traffic ahead, and paddle downshift to slow down quite often.

Way too many variables to determine. Biggest are pad composition (there’re dozens) and frequency and style of braking). I’d say you’ve gotten fair use.

There is no way to uniformly correlate miles to brake pad use - low miles put on in city driving with lots of braking will have much more wear than high miles put on in highway driving with little to no braking.

My 2008 XKR that I recently purchased as a one-owner 20K mile car needed to have the rear brakes done. Presumably that previous owner drove most of the 20K miles in the city.

That doesn't seem an unreasonable pad life to me but, as stated above, there is no direct relationship between miles and pad wear. You are correct about the rears wearing out first. I find almost 2:1 for Rear:Front replacement.

My N/A X150 is approaching 70K miles. It's on the second set of front pads, third set of rear. I also changed the brake discs with the second set of pads front and rear. The wheels come off my vehicles every six months to check tyre tread, brake pad thickness and suspension. Brake overhaul is done 'when required' and not as part of service schedule simply because wear rate cannot be linked to mileage.
