Default Lowering Springs for 2010-Plus XKR (Not H&R)?

Gents, I had H&R springs on my 2007 XKR and they were great. I just bought a 2010, and love the much improved suspension, but the ride height is just not my cup of tea.

From H&R's web site, it looks like their springs are no different for the 5.0's as they are for the 4.2's, which is a problem, as the OE spring rate on the 5.0's is higher than the 4.2's. I would not want to put a softer rate spring on the car than stock, just for the sake of lowering it.

Does any spring manufacturer make springs specifically for the 2010-2014 XKR? If not, I will forgo lowering the car.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can accurately answer this question.

I'll post, but I have no idea about these springs. At least you now know your thread is active!

Arden have lowering springs for the 5.0 litre cars:

Jaguar XK Fahrwerk

As do Adamesh:

https://www.adamesh.co.uk/jaguar-xk-...5mm-4319-p.asp

You might want to ring Adamesh in the UK and see if they have a suggestion on a vendor for the 5.0 litre cars.

Buy the springs from Jaguar. XKR-S springs are lower and designed for the car

That's odd because it looked like they did have springs available for the later 5.0 litre cars. Arden's website says from 2010 on.

Perhaps the XKR-S springs would work?

i think you'll find the h&r spring is up rated from stock 4.2 in any case .
so in that case they might be lower with the same rating or beyond the 5.0 springs .
have you taken the time to ask them .

i know the h&r s type springs are heavier rating than stock STR.
might be worth an ask . from what ive seen h&r only make upgrades .

Dynamic Pack / R-S springs are stiffer than stock 5.0 (front 28% stiffer, rear 32%) and the car rides 10mm lower. That may not be enough for your taste, but a Dynamic Pack car definitely has a visibly lower stance.

When I purchased my 2010 xkr it had h&r lowering springs on it. I took them off in favor of xkr-s springs, and like them much better. The h&r springs were too low for all the driving i do.

yes, you are correct on those numbers. my question is....are the shocks on the dynamic pac and R-S cars calibrated to work with the stiffer springs? if they are, I wonder if my regular XKR shocks will work with them properly. nothing worse than too little dampening on a stiff spring.

yes, you could be right. I have sent them 2 emails and I have had zero reply. will call tmrw and see if I can get a tech on the phone.

I loved the look and the ride quality on my 2007 with the H&R's (although they seemed noticeably softer than the stock springs on my 2010), but as these cars have zero camber adjustment (pretty silly that they don't), I killed inner-tires from the almosy 2.0 of neg-camber. don't want to do that again.

do the shocks feel like they manage the stiffer rate xkrs springs well? I don't know whether then dynamic pac/xkrs shocks are calibrated for the stiffer springs.

Since all the damper settings are driven by software, it's just a mapping change to alter the characteristics. I believe the Active Dynamics settings are recalibrated on the Dynamic Pack & R-S - whether that included changing the level of damping I don't know, but I suspect it did.

So, yeah, the standard damper settings may not be fully tuned to work with stiffer springs. Unless, of course, the system is truly dynamic and learns how much damping is needed by tracking ride height, roll, pitch, yaw, etc. I know it's pretty smart, I just don't know how smart...

I'd actually like to try XKR springs on my XKR-S, although I'd want to hang onto those so that I could return it to stock. If anyone has a set to sell, especially in the PNW, get in touch.

Are there any coilover options? I'd love to be able to try different spring rates to balance the car, and adjust the ride height.

I think my shocks are toast anyway (got some front end clunk over big bumps/rr tracks) from having the h&rs on there as long as I did, so I can't tell you an honest opinion.

do you think the 1.3" drop from the H&R's did the shocks in, or just mileage? they shouldn't damage the shocks. in theory, at least.
