As an avid DYER I find this a very interesting thread indeed. Lots of useful info from SBS less so from a small minority especially as regards myths about coolant.
The use of "geen" vs "orange" is somewhat irrelevant from an overheating point of view as boiling point is the issue here and the mixture of either plus the pressure of the system are the key variables.
The higher the % coolant the lower the boiling point. The higher the pressure of the system the higher the boiling point.
Mixing of the two is more important as they form a blocking sludge if mixed.
As we "should" all know green is used in pre 2000 engines because of the metals used and Orange like Dexcool is used where aluminum and some plastice are widely used.
Dexcool type coolant comes in other colors besides orange.
