Had the Mina Gallery exhaust installed today. My goodness, what a piece of work that thing is. As was mentioned above it's too bad most of it is hidden.

It took Buckhead Performance only an hour and a half to install it as it is a complete bolt on kit that easily replaces the stock muffler. The quad tips are beautiful and I had mine staggered with the outer ones back 1-1/4" to follow the curve of the lower bumper. The exhaust tone is noticably deeper and not as tinny as the stock. If I downshift a gear or two when coming home, there's no doubt the neighbors will know I'm home.

Since I'm a DD and not performance oriented I did not notice any difference in the low end torque. Had it on the interstate for 25 miles and she still does fly.

The drone is still there but the deeper note of this exhaust seems to muffle it considerably.

She now sounds as sensual as she looks.

Best regards,

How did it fit compared to the single tips? Was the center piece between the two outlets included?

Jason, the owner of BP, said it was a simple installation. Unbolted the original and replaced with the Mina. Everything lined up perfectly including the hangers. The kit includes a replacement valance to accomodate the quad tips. I think it looks nicer than the OEM one.

How are our Red Sox chances this year? I've disowned the Pats. I grew up in Hanover.

Best,

No this is not NJ. I use to work in Hanover. Grew up on the Cape. Planning on the Mina exhaust in a month or so. I really like the looks of the stock exhaust and did not upgrade my VDP, but figure the XK could use a little more growl

In my decades of high performance experience, I could never tune an engine to where I would NOT loose low-end torque as a result of opening up the exhaust for high-end gains. Perhaps it is possible but, I have not been able to do it.

The Mina gains tons of high-end power over the stock one but, looses a fair amount of low end torque. As I said so many times, all aftermarket additions tend to come with gains AND losses. In most instances the factory figures out a "happy compromise", in this case, good low-end torque with fair high-end, and when you change a component to improve on one, you tend to loose at the opposite end of the curve.

What you have to ask yourself is; what's important for you in a car? If you freeway drive or city traffic drive most of the time, you want smooth low end torque. If you enjoy performance driving, meaning that you spend a good part of your driving time over 4000 RPM, than you will benefit from a free flowing exhaust that will reward you at the high-end. In my acceleration tests, the XK really felt like it was beginning to struggle at 110 MPH with the stock exhaust while with the Mina it was still winding up and cutting through the RPM range as a hot knife would cut through soft butter. On the other hand now with the Mina downshifting is necessary where it was not needed before. That is the difference.

Burg: I do not have a video clip. Moe-she-sa has one with his Mina equipped car on the dyno, you may ask him to post it again.

i know this is a very old post...... could u not just add motor driven valves like the valvetronics to backside of the muffler and at the flip of a switch they can be closed to provide that low end torque and then another push and all 4 tips are wide open ???

Or just get a proper ecu tune on your car.
