Default My project - Jag XKRst - 1 of 1 :)

Hi,

I was asked to show my car. Therefore opening a new thread. Happy to get any feedback on my work/effect. Not really keen to discuss economical rationality - I've done this car, hopefully, for a lifetime. Don't care if it was cheaper to buy XKR-S or not. I'm super pleased with a result, so really don't care about rational part of this project.

Brief history:
I bought my MY2010 Jag XKR in Nov 2019, with less than 60k miles on a clock. It's a Copart car with right rear damage. Not a significant one, but also not a cosmetic. Imported it to Poland and started my project. Initially wanted to have it just rebuilt (car was on a road in Mar 2020). But during a first winter (2020/2021), when a car was sleeping and waiting for the next season decided to go way further...

List of modifications:
- full exterior conversion to facelift model (front and rear - saying that I mean a rear finish molding, led lights were already there)
- speed pack and black pack (car on chrome vulcan alloys, but will change to black vortex in upcoming days)
- Alcon brakes with floating rotors (+ Brembo parkbrake) - custom bells and custom rear calipers adapters
- full XKR-S suspension (incl. famous knuckles) and a steering rack (thanks for reminding it )
- full custom exhaust (from cats to the back)
- interior modification - performance seats, leather headliner, Chinese screen
- performance tune (smaller pulley, bigger IC, water-meth injection) - currently it has around 590-600bhp
- blind spot monitoring (retrofit of Jaguar OEM mirror glasses + aftermarket sensors)

Still some things to come, which I will update when they are done. But from outside perspective - no more visible changes planned.

Default Exhaust

Shame, but I don't have a picture of a full exhaust when completed. Posting some pictures of a production process. PS. As you can see on one of a picture - "old" car in background

very cool project. i really like the classic jaguar logo hub caps! that's a really nice touch that i'd like on my car as well, but the aftermarket wheels make it difficult to fit.

Nicely done!

Are the slotted rotors from Alcon? Your 6-piston front calipers look exactly like mine, but my OEM rotors have crescent-shaped grooves.

Front rotors are AP Racing. Rear rotors are Reyland Motorsport. Bells are custom.
My calipers are not exactly like yours (they seem to be 100% OEM), as mine are repainted with non-OEM color - candy red I love its sparkle (metalic blend) on an ultimate black body.

Thanks for reminding. Of course I did
Updated the first post.

Probably there are more things I have not mentioned.

And frankly that's one of the best mods, as original steering rack of XKR is a failure... way too much of turning a steering wheel and way too soft/easy/gentle in turning (limo, not a GT car)

Mine is from XFR-S actually. But now a car is much more "meaty" and definitely you feel more a surface/handling on a steering wheel.

Fantastic! How do you find the Alcon brakes and other brake parts compared to your stock brakes?

Never been on a track with ATE brakes (which were anyway modified- Stoptech rotors and EBC yellow pads). But "Alcons" are very good. No problem of overheating and loosing braking power (at least during 20min rounds).

On a daily driving - they feel more confident but could not say day vs night difference. Better for sure. Never tested a stopping distance of ATEs, but can make a test with someone to compare. Just align on a speed and I can record stopping distance.

And they are definitely lighter - everything - calipers and especially rotors (due to aluminum bells). So unsprung mass goes lower - handling and performance improvement.

One thing to be mentioned. Alcon swap on 5.0 engine is not a simple plug and play from a donor. Fronts are. Rears not, as there is not place on rear knuckles to attach a park brake caliper. You have to have custom mounting brackets made. One day will show it, but it requires taking a rear rotors off...

i did the same mod on mine (xkrs rack) its nice firm and very precise now , although not for every one out there but if driven hard definitely a necessity.

What a great job! I want to do exactly the same for the brakes, can you provide us with exact réf PN?!
what is easy to retrofit? Actually mine is 2013 XKRS, don’t know if it is exactly transposable …
