Default Navigation DVD

It is generally agreed that the XK navigation system is not worth using. I have a 2009 XK, would upgrading the DVD's to 2011 - 2012 help anything ? Any idea when the 2013 - 2014 DVD's will be out based on history ? When did the 2011 - 2012 come out ?

Thanks.

Why isn't it worth using? I have the new 2011-2012 DVD in mine and it works extremely well compared to iDrive and the stock Infiniti systems I've had in previous cars.

I've only had a few trips under my belt with my car so far, and admit the nav is not nearly as intuitive as my prior Lexus or Audi.

Simple reasoning says an aftermarket Garmin will do far more for less money than a Nav DVD.
That said, I still bought the '12 disc as I prefer a uncluttered interior. Figure I really only need the silly thing on rare occasions as it is.

I enjoy mine every time I use it. My wife and I just did a two day road trip and needed it the whole way. It worked great. I understand some other OEM's are better, and if one of them ever builds a car I like better than the Jag I might have a chance to try one!

Hmmm I generally don't use the built in navigation units for route guidance, but if I'm stuck in traffic and quickly need a way to get around it, I leave the map on the screen.

I prefer the older interface on my '04 XJ, but the OEM nav works fine. On an '07, will a 2012 nav disk work?

I believe it takes a while to get used to and configure properly, especially when you are used to a Garmin.

Also, I checked and my 2009, has the 2007-2008 disk. I guess an upgrade would be in order, though I'd like to wait for the 2013-2014 set.

I do this too, when I'm driving somewhere I'm unfamiliar with. I don't find the system to be hard to understand, really... but I have to be honest more often than not when I've tried to use it for guidance, it couldn't find the address I was trying to put in. Which is very annoying when you're just trying to go somewhere. Its not the fastest system in the world, so you'd like it to work the first time you try something.

So, how much does the latest Nav upgrade DVD cost? I just bought an '07 XK from the original Owner and I doubt it has been upgraded.

Nalley is no more...I tried calling yesterday and they are out of business. They were purchased by Hennessey Jaguar and they may be transitioning but their phone no longer answers.

Hennessey Jag does not give a discount for stuff...I have tried. I've asked several of them if they ever monitor the Jaguar forums and only one person (A mechanic/tech) even knew what I was talking about.

I did talk to the Gwinnett Place store manager about sponsoring an XK/R meet and they said they would.

That bites... I just got my ACM and emergency Triangle from them last month!

I might try to reach David there and see if we can get the inside scoop... He always took great care of me.

Default Nav

Compared to my 2006 Aston Martin DB9 the Nav in my 2008 XKR Jaguar is FAR FAR superior!
I like it. You do better off using folding maps in the AM.

Ok. I think if you call Nalley's old number you automatically get routed to this dealership. I spoke to someone the other day about parts for my son's VDP, but was not aware they would give the discount.

I will keep this in mind, because I am close to purchasing the speed pack stuff for my XKR.

Does the navigation come with one or two disc's? It appears my '`13 XKR, which I'm picking up tomorrow, has two disc's. I'm not sure if they are east and west, or what yet.
