John, I would first make sure the battery in your car is fully charged. Partially discharged batteries can wreak all sorts of havoc in XKs.

Then I would check the fuses that protect the navigation system and touch screen display circuits. The Electrical Guide for your MY indicates that fuse 14 in the fuse panel between the back seats is the one. I would also check fuse 21 in that panel. See below.

Good luck.

Hi,

My screen (2010 XKR) was blank except when door opened and/or ignition turned on. A known problem is the light sensor that dims or brightens the screen. I found my screen came on in the dark. When it came on I selected the brightness control on the screen and reduced it to below 50% and selected MANUAL instead of AUTO. The next day it all worked fine and has continued to do so (fingers crossed). Good luck !

That could be the problem, but the OP said he could not eject the navigation DVD. So this led my thoughts to fuses.

As I’ve posted before, I’ve been through this. In my case it was a loose ground. The grounding point is in the footwell, on the outer RH side of the car.
cheers.
