Check out these guys that Ammo raves about. They seem detail and performance oriented- even bake tires.

You should look into folks who do wheel straightening. The good ones are really good.
Your reward is the 'like' lol

Yeah I should have known wheels were the culprit, just didn't want to believe it since the repair place and the tire shop didn't say anything about dents or bends.

I was told since both fronts have been welded before, they can't (or won't) try to straighten them.

It has improved with the road force balance and new tires, so I'll just live with it for now.

I'll update on the noise issue after I replace the trans mount. Seems like a straight forward job.

Replaced it a few days ago.

Pretty easy job, was a bit nervous about supporting the trans from the pan. But it worked out nice.

They wasn't much reduction in noise or vibration, but the 'clonk' was severely reduced when going from N to D.

Also finally got a good look at how bad the trans electrical connector is. No drip so I won't worry about it till next year.

looks like a leak to me.

Is the trans pan strong enough to be jacked that way?

Leak... yes. Drip... no. Don't want to do the fluid and pan again after I did it last winter. I'll just wait and monitor periodically.

I was skeptical at first with the jacking the pan that way. But I had no other alternative. The wood block dispersed some of the stress away from the middle, to the edges where it is much stronger. So yeah it held up pretty well.

Jack at your own risk though =]

The problem with a leak like this especially wit a transmission that doesn't have a dip stick is you never know how much fluid you lose. Then again when it over heats and burns up you'll know.

Hi All:
Just got a 2007 XK Vert, w 80k miles. Beautiful and fun (the purpose of "a Jag" ;~)) ). But one of my 2 current issues on the car is vibration at about 90 mph. Not noticeable at all until about 80 mph, then peak at 90 mph, and steady there to the 110 mph I got up to. \
So based on the above, what do we think are the most likely suspects for the bad vibe?
Its such a joy to drive at speed, I have to get this vibe eliminated !! Thanks all.

I would say have the tires road force balanced at a reputable place. Dealer would be ideal. They can tell you if it's your wheels.

I just put on 4 new tires a week ago. They balanced them then. I went back today and had them re-check road force balance. They did and said the tires are fine.
But while the tires were off I inspected the bushings around t he tires. On both sides the anti-roll bar bushings are both torn and shot. And some other kind of stabilizer bushing is shot on both sides. The main bushings for the upper and lower arms looked OK.

Are those bushings a good suspect for highway vibrations??

My guess would be yes... I had similar vibrations and what I named the Lane Change Shimmy, that could have resulted in a very dangerous situation if not addressed... Here is a thread I started that shows what I did about it...

LOL yeah I heard some things about bad dealers. I have a pretty good relationship with mine (buy parts from them all the time). So when I went into the shop for the 1st time and talked with the tech, it seemed like they knew what they were doing and maybe even cared a little bit. Obviously they tried to oversell me on every little thing but as long as they address my concerns, I was satisfied.

Guess it just depends on where you are.
