Default Need help with gas filler

Hey guys, every tank of gas I add octane booster to match what my car was tuned for because California makes things illegal that the 49 other states don't seem to see a good reason to (flavored tabacco, gas cans with normal spouts, hand contact on a stripper you just gave $20 for a lap dance lasting the duration of one song, most aftermarket air intakes, the windshield washer fluid you can use for meth injection, front window tint, most aftermarket cats,2 stroke engines, using the word "light" on cigarrete boxes and in 2035 gasoline powered cars). I was spacing out and shoved the neck of the bottle too far down causing it to get hung up on something. It came out with sounds of metal and springs being forced in ways that would break something. I don't recall when looking down the filler pipe there was anything visible. Now there is the spring loaded flap hanging. Gas pump kept clicking off so is it for a vent pipe? What happened and how can I fix it? Thanks

I think you are fine, you might have bent the flap a little bit.

The issue with the gas pump repeatedly stopping while filling gas is caused by the gas station pump
you are using and too much air being drawn in during filling. Try another pump or better yet another
gas station and I think you will fine the problem is not repeated.

Thats the best case scenario answer I was hoping for. I was just skeptical it was coincidence first time in 5 years was 10 seconds after. I'll try station I know always works. Would you happen to know which way it bent? I'm now thinking it was pushed forward, not pulled back. If I could confirm to push it back or pull it back I'll mess with it a little. thanks

I'd not want to live with it like that. If you take out that rear liner you can at least see where everything is and how it's run, maybe how to remove it for repair/replacement.
I do believe there's a thread in this forum about that already, or at least close to it. Probably Gas Pump Shuts Off or something...

I am so relieved that the gas was flowing in fine at my usual station. However I am not ok with leaving it as is. I will pull the liner like you guys said and go from there. Keep an eye out for me asking more questions if that goes haywire. Appreciate all the help so far though!
