Default New 2013 XKR

About 6 weeks ago I took my old (2013) in for service at a new (to me) dealer. I was not in the market for a new car. The Service Manager who I had met at the Jaguar Performance Driving Academy last year, mentioned that they had a brand new 13 XKR w/Portfolio Package and performance active exhaust in inventory.

I took a look at it and made a lowball offer, they countered with a price about 15% above my offer and I walked, remember, I wasn't in the market for a new car. I fugured let them wait and I would make another (lower) offer. About 10 days ago I sent them an email offering them around 58% of the MSRP they countered with a price around 60% of the MSRP.

So, I had the Mina exhaust and Wrangler remote top controller removed from my 12 XK and sold it for $38.5k. The same day I picked up the XKR and the Mina exhaust and remote top controller are being installed tomorrow.

Why did I do this? Well, I now have a new 13 XKR when there won't be any more XKRs as we know them available after the three new 15s I found on line are gone and I have upgraded my vehicle at a reasonable (to me) cost.

If I can figure out how to post pictures I will be posting some shortly.

Congratulations! You must have gotten a much better deal than you would have on a '15, and the car is still 'new'.
Bring on the pictures!

As I am writing this Steve Klonsky's remote top opener is being installed and then it is off to Mina Galleries for Kris' exhaust system to be installed. These photos were taken with my Galaxy S6 Edge. As a sometime amateur photographer, I must say that I am impressed with the quality of the photographs. Thanks for all your good wishes.

Nice pix's . If you have the X pipe performance exhaust my bet is someone on the form would be interested in it. Happy motoring and good luck. Oh on the 4 yrs and 50K mileage check the "in service " date just to make sure it is 4 years from YOUR date of purchase and not the dealers.

I'm curious as to the design differences (if any) between your 2012 xk and 2013 xkr. I upgraded from an 08xk to 12xkr and man what a different feel and driving experience, and with the new low low gas prices I dont even mind losing my 30mpg hwy driving .

Beautiful ride, as mentioned check when your warranty started, mine was based on in service date that I was not notified about, took me a year no a half to get it right. I had the dealer give me a CPO warranty (6 years or 100,000 miles).

I think you need to look hard and see if there were any newer options. I had the opportunity to look at a 2014 when I was in Fl. last year and I could not see any difference between that XKR convert. and my 2012 XKR convert. I would be interested to see if there were any differences.

I'm curious as to how the car was kept new for 3 years. Was it stored? I ask as I bought my 2012 new in 2013 and they told me it was used as a show car by Jaguar Canada which kept miles low and allowed me the new car warranty.

To the best of my knowledge they kept in their new car storage area. When I first saw it, it looked like it had been stored outside for a few weeks. I know they replaced the battery in Jan of this year. It's in service date is also January of this year. There are no major differences between this car and the 2012s other than the fact that this an XKR and my 12 was an XK. Thus far the XKR feels much more powerful and faster than my modified XK which dyno'd to 440hp.

Any way I am quite pleased to be in a new vehicle at a very reasonable price.

Ralph,
Aren't you through gloating, yet? I told you the fun was about to begin with that big honkin' supercharger. Nice couple of weeks to break that convertible in with 80+F weather.

Congrats on the upgrade, I test drove a '10 XKR by myself for around 30 minutes several years ago. It was in Mexico, so the fact that I broke every traffic law in that area is not an admission of US guilt...it was fast, especially after putting all the settings in performance mode.

I would expect nothing less than to be faster. More HP and doesn't it have the E-Diff? While it seems that most feel a mechanical LSD is better I would think the E version would be better than the closed diff on an XK.

The modded XK is the intermediate version I suppose, faster than an XK, but not as quick as the XKR. Now if you do the same to the XKR by tuning will it complement the exhaust and yield MORE HP?
