Default New to Jaguar...looking at this XK

Hello,
I recently joined this forum and have a brief story in the new member section. I'm still a bit shocked that I've overlooked these beautiful automobiles and just happened to look at one when inquiring about a 650i, which I was sure I was going to purchase. Now of course, I have not only second thoughts but know I want to own an XK.

I've seen the feedback on XKR vs XK and understand totally the thinking behind it. From what I'm seeing, XKR is roughly 10-15K more than XK on the used market.

I've also read here in the forum that 08s are preferred over 07s, again I understand the reasoning. It's seems that way in the 6 series as well.

So why am I still looking at this 07 XK that doesn't have that many options? More or less to get a baseline and learn from your experience. I'm sure I know a deal when I see it but there are so many variations in pricing for used XKs that I thought I'd reach out and get your feedback.

If you wouldn't mine, please check out this 07 XK and provide feedback. Appreciate any feedback.

It looks like a base model except for the wheels. The listing says it has satteliite radio but I do not see the antenna on the trunk. The price is OK but you really need to check it out in person to see how clean it is. I also bought a base '07 convertible and love it. Check to see if it has the Jaguar certified extended warranty. Contact me if you have any specific questions.

Thanks for your feedback sorapp. It does have the antenna, it has the sirius radio, the upgraded sounds system. I drove it and it handled quite well, except the tires felt a bit out of balance and I'm sure it's because the care sat a lot and was not driven much. I wondered if the upgraded seats made a big difference for comfort. I was impressed overall with the handling, power, ride quality, and that's not easy to do for me since I presently have 360hp. Sounds like a base model is still a very fine automobile.

Fogger,
If it is a Certified by Jaguar you might consider getting a better price without the certification! 95% of potential problems are NOT covered by Jaguar's Certified Warranty eg. wiring ,Air Bag system, exhaust, Brakes, end the fine print it's long...............
Try some other after market ones.

Just my 2 cents worth based on my experience with a so called Certified Jaguar!

I too have heard mixed reviews on Jag's Certified Warranty. Under 3K you can buy a good aftermarket one.

I have the Jaguar Certified warranty on my '07 XK. I have had a number of different types of repairs and never paid for anything, including oil changes. From my experience it was an excellent deal.

I asked the dealer of this 07 XK about after market warranties and they handed me the Easy Care contract...$3500. Seems high though I'd suppose they are adjusted depending on vehicle, year, mileage, etc.

My experience with CPOs is I only paid for special requests, everything else was covered...this is with BMW so I'm thinking the Jag is similar.

Fogger,

There are some great deals coming through on 07 XKs. I just got a more or less base 07 Coupe with 35K miles for under $30K. I've only had it for 2 days and 200 miles so I'm hoping for the best but so far so good.

There's not that many options that are missing. It doesn't have the Luxury Package and it doesn't have the upgraded stereo with SAT, Active headlights and Active Cruise. It is a great color on it. Look at it, if you like it buy it. You're buying it to please yourself and not everyone else.

Sorapp,
Glad you get good service! What type of repairs have been covered?
On my '07 XK had the left rear turn signal problem due to 'pinched wire' my Dealer says "electrical wiring NOT covered"
Latest is intermittent display of Airbag symbol due to' faulty clock spring' in steering wheel; Dealer says "Airbag system NOT covered"!
Dealer also charges +30% on MSRP; say "can't stay in business otherwise! However I do get a 10% discount because I'm still in Seattle Jag Club (50+ yrs), still.................
Should have done the clock spring replacement myself; feeling lazy and too busy with silly Christmas Lights!
Cheers, Adrian '00 XK8, 07XK

I'm reading various feedback on certified. Found this one certified and I'm guessing some would agree it's worth the additional $$ and some would not, when comparing to the previous XK.

One of the things I noticed if you are financing it through Jaguar you get a better rate if it's Certified.

I agree about the interest rate...and though white is not my first color for seats, that is one beautiful interior.

Just for comparison, I paid $47.5k for a pristine fully Jaguar certfied 2008 xk conv 9 months ago with 23k miles. Your prospect looks great but don't be afraid to haggle. I luv mine after 6k miles and no problems.
