Default New XKR owner

Good morning. After many years of longing, I have finally taken the plunge and bought a 2008 XKR. Lovely car, with low mileage and great body work. I do however have a few questions :

1) Are there any simple mods/upgrades that you recommend I should do as a matter of course. I have ordered new sat nav maps already and had the air con regassed. Any top tips?

2) Owners Manual/SH - I took a gamble and bought the car without any service history. There is no service book or owners manual. I have looked online and can find "electronic copies" but does anyone know where I can buy an owners manual/service book? I have found a few on ebay but they seem to be £150+ which seems steep. I also spoke to Jaguar, but since they went online, they don't provide paper copies any more. I know the car has been serviced regularly too, but a quick ring around of dealers and only one has a record of the car (1 year service)

3)Orange light on roof. When driving of a night, there is a small orange light on the interior roof - just in front of the mirror. It is not the parking sensor.

Many thanks

David

Welcome!
1) Reading from my phone, so I don't see your signature, and you don't say if you have a coupe or convertible, but if its a convertible, get the 'remote top and rear window control' by theJagWrangler, best mod you can make, and the maker is a member here and all around great guy.
2) I bit the bullet and bought the best deal I could find on ebay, not cheap, but now I have one.
3) The light is normal, gives a bit of interior light at night to see the console.

search Topix, input your car info and check out the documents. Service manual is available online for free, you just need to search a little.

If you did not buy this through a Jaguar Dealer, I'd bring it in and have them check the car for any potential problems and get them taken care of right away. I'd also do a complete detailing on the car both inside and out. If it is a convertible, use 303 Fabric Cleaner and Protectorant on the top. To get a little more exhaust noise though out the RPM cycle, remove fuse 19.
Last but not least, drive it and enjoy it!

Transmission-pan-filter-fluid change is recommended if over 50k miles. Brake fluid flush never hurts.

Get a battery charger / tender. These cars are notorious for: 1.) Draining current while parked; and 2.) Electronic gremlins when battery is below specific charged state. Most of us have gotten the CTEK 3300 for about $70 retail. Easy to use, peace of mind.

CTEK is great and you can use it between different cars.

I wonder why they didn't direct you to here because they have an online site for replacement paper owners manuals:

https://www.jaguarlandroverliterature.com

You can either buy the manuals individually or in a set and a complete set for you car is US$125 which is around 96 GBP.
