Haha, you should take it as a compliment to Miatas as not being the potential money pits that an aging XKR might be!

Well, I can confirm. I probably had less stuff to fix on mine, besides the usual regular maintenance of course, in 11 years of ownership than my Jag in less than 2...
But the XK is so much more on so many levels...

That's a low blow...
But think of it this way: Miatas are chick pullers...so guys who drive them (provided they're straight of course...) just want to add a weapon to their seduction arsenal.

Oh poor Kyle. Those gents(?), told Kyle they were from planet Beta Centauri, and offered him an all expenses paid trip there.
But he was duped, as there is no such planet, just a star with that name. They were actually slave traders from a planet in the Alpha Centauri system, and now that they have Kyle, he’s the only worker in their new X150 plant, hammering out copies of his beautiful car (you see, these guys don’t have arms, so they can’t pick up a hammer themselves).

So, George, just out of curiosity, as this is clearly beyond my area of expertise:
now, which car is better pulling chicks, a Miata or an XKR?

I am eager to learn, even though they say that they can’t teach an old dog new tricks (even if he is accompanied by a cat).

Dudes like your car. In the XK, dudes would buy an XK and take your wife.
In a Miata, chicks like your car. In the Miata, you'd be a 'bestie' for all the chickies.

I think chicks like the convertible side of it and its cute factor given it's pretty small and not show-offy.
That being said, my ex likes Jags...too bad for her I got one only after we parted ways...

I'm still amazed how this thread is from a "one post member"...and it stays alive!

That's the beauty of the Internet: nothing beats absurdity when it comes to attracting attention.

Respect Kyle's love of his XKR.
Sadly, all this Miata drivel is making Kyle roll over in his grave.

So it’s confirmed he’s shuffled off this mortal coil, bereft of life, kicked the bucket, passed on, expired and gone off to meet his maker, pushing up daisies and ceased his metabolic processes?

suspected, yes...confirmed NO!
I still am holding out hope he is rewriting his fourth version of this epic journey and will be forwarding signed copies of this masterpiece to all members of the xk150 forum.

I guess there’s more than a grain of truth in this observation.

When at the university with the Jag (something I do rarely only), I have repeatedly been asked by younger students (Master’s programs, less so from the PhD program) whether they might join me for a ride. I never had the idea this might say anything (positive) about my attraction, as with the Volkswagen I have never been asked like this…

Sometimes, then, the wise words of Kristofferson come to my mind,
”And the old keep getting older…”,
merely to continue
”… and the young must do the same.”

… so one of my conclusions has been that life is simply too short not to own and drive an XKR when the opportunity exists.

Think about it. Kyle's one and only post was exceptionally well written, and it was received by many Forum members with enthusiasm. Why was that his one and only post? Surely, he would have posted about his epic road trip, but didn't because he died or became incapacitated. Is there any other reasonable explanation?

A troll wouldn't have gone to all that trouble.

Hey, let us not rule out alien abduction too quickly...just sayin'.

Maybe because it was so exceptionally well written, he may have thought it would only be downhill from there...and thus abstained from posting any more...
