Welcome to the forums Bedfordlab,

A 2007 is a sensible choice as the 4.2 version has a good reputation for reliability. You also get hit with significantly lower annual VED on the earlier models in the UK. My 2014 is 735 UKP.

The body is aluminium and can show bubbling under the paint in our wet climate. The suspension frames and fuel tank straps are mild steel and I think these start to develop surface rust the day they leave the factory! This was my 2007 with the exhaust removed to replace the heat shields. Typical rust for a UK example.

If the MoT advisories are for surface rust only, I wouldn't be too concerned.

With a vehicle around 17 years old, check the service history very closely. These vehicles don't respond well to missing service intervals.

Graham
