Default Oil Capacity for 2010 XK and what type?

I need to know what is the Oil Capacity and what type of oil for a 2010 Jag XK? I was thinking of using Mobil One 5w30? We justed moved to Long Beach, WA and I don't have a Jag Dealer for 115 Miles and they are 3 to 4 weeks behind.

2010 Jag XK 5.0 Litre
56,000 miles

The manual says 15.3 pints (7.65 quarts).

There are MANY threads on what oil to use. Read the threads and decide what you want to use. I don't think there is a definitive answer if it is OK to use something other than what is specified in the Owner's Handbook - 5W-20 oil meeting WSS M2C925-A specification. Castrol Edge Professional seems to be the ONLY oil that meets this spec.

Just a heads up, I noticed a much improved engine tone and smoothness in accelerating when adding close to 8 quarts, i think 7.65 is the MINIMUM
But try it for yourself...

Default 2010 Jaguar XK oil quantity & Type

Well I had the same question because I have never had a vehicle that took 9 quarts of oil. Shocking ...

I just had the dealership do a change and they charged for 9 quarts of Cas Edge Pro 10:58 each. The filter is a C2D3670 $33.60

Castrol Edge Titanium: 10qts = $60
Beck/Arnley Oil Filter = $23
Parts total = $83

Drain and Fill Service (Indie) = $20
Labor/Disposal total = $20

Total cost $103

+$202.57
- $103.00

Moneys back in your pocket $99.57

My 2010 is out of warranty, so getting oil changes(and most likely a far better filter) at half the price is a win for me.

Also note: Front lower control arms "With" bushings start at $102, and Max out at $246.
Install is less than an hour, so 1 hour minimum plus alignment at your local tire shop. Maybe $140 total?

$386 vs $1036

Naturally, like a head of lettuce, you have to buy the full bottle.

This meets the latest JLR specs for the 5.0L engine. It's much less expensive than Castrol and is available in 5L and 1L containers.

The thing that you were somewhat taken on a ride for is the environmental fee of $30. Heck if everyone changing oil paid $30 fee, we could live on Mars.
The filter does cost that much when you give them a little for the overhead.
The oil cost about that.

But you came out even by having them look at other things on the car.
I would tell you dont go back and use someone with smaller boat payments, however the service light would not be reset by such shops.
So next year, just pay the $72 extra and have them give you a free inspection. That is worth the $72 and then some.

That's actually more expensive than Castrol by about $14US from what I can see. Maybe a little more. Here, I can get 5qt, which is about 4.73l. Maybe if you are in Europe it's less?

I’ve been putting 7 quarts of Mobil 1 5-30. I guess I’ll switch to Castrol Synthetic. I’ve been hearing great things about Amsoil

Its good stuff George. It will get even harder to find. You wont have any trouble shifting it on ebay should you find something better.
The Land Rover guys covet it.
