Default Paint style

Does anyone know if this is a factory paint scheme and detail or is this an owner aftermarket add in? I’m thinking it’s the latter.

I believe it was a factory decal that you could order and stick on. Very few takers with good reason.

Yes. Not cool at all. Wonder how difficult it would be to get off. I used a chemical to remove a similar decal on my son’s Mustang years ago.

It might actually be aftermarket. There was one like that available but it was black, not white and there is only one listed in the accessory guide:

XKR ‘BLACK CAT’ DECALS
Enhance your XKR all the more with
this striking, limited edition decal.
Fits 2010 model year XKR and newer
Left-hand — C2P21330
Right-hand — C2P21331

If a normal vinyl then a hair dryer and warm weather should be all you need. If apprehensive about it take the car to a place that wraps cars and they should be able to remove for a small fee. IMO it looks horrible on that colourway, but less so as black on a white car.

Question is why would you want to scream 'HEY I'M DRIVING AN XKR PEOPLE!!'?

Agree. It detracts from an otherwise beautiful car. Almost like the “4x4” on the side of a truck. Makes me want to write “=16” with a Sharpie after it.

I kind of like it, especially that color on that color. I must be the weird one...

I agree that those stickers on a street car turns an XKR into one "big cat-*** trophy" (Sorry, couldn't resist. In case you didn't get it, that's a catastrophe.)

However, if your XKR is set up for track use, a unique design that stands out helps identify your vehicle. This graphic lets other drivers know that the big cat is coming after them.

Vinyl stickers are available from a variety of sources. Here's one from Ebay:

I guess that’s why they have options. Something for everyone!

For track cars I've always liked the paint schemes and as they turned to vinyl graphics it got much better. As someone who never had dealer adds stuck on my cars I don't care for the street car decals. The most I've taken is a dealer licence plate frame.

I had an uncle who made the dealership remove the dealership decal from his vehicle before he bought it! He gave them another option which was pay him $25 per month in advertising fees. They took it off.

I dont completely understand the objective and end game- but there is some need in man to attract and impress other men.
These 4X4 style decals cater to that massive market.

Perhaps its similar to makeup for women, which is really warpaint in competing with other women.
Except, while makeup does give one the competitive advantage, it has no effect on other women.
4x4 writing in large letters does make a peacock standout, but it does nothing for women and does everything for other men.

This requires further thought.
Why are we simultaneously creating separation from the herd and attracting other males?
If women put these decals on trucks, it would make all the sense in the world.

I tend to do very few modifications to vehicles I own, and generally am not going to do one that screams look at me. That's a hard pass here.

The weirdest part about a big XKR logo is that these aren't race cars or even track day occasionals; they're GT cars. The GT3RS 911 is a little different with it's goofy side decal given it's intended and generally used for. If you aren't a decently aware Jaguar fan, you probably have no idea what an XKR is.

As far as Mr Attenborough above, I agree wholeheartedly. We women, even if into cars, generally aren't into gaudy ones. The ones who are into it, may only know "that looks expensive", and you know those ones are trouble! The best car to attract women is generally a car that they themselves might want to own as a toy; the best being a Jeep Wrangler of some sort; not a Jaguar with a big sticker on it. One of my guy friends has a nice 2 door Wrangler Sahara and he regularly has women come up to him, and although he's nice looking, most have been into the car and asking questions about the buying and ownership experience.

Could be worse; mine looked similar to this when it was advertised, but the stripes were gone by the time I saw it in the metal:

The thing is that it made the car look more Dr Seussical (like a 2+2 E Type) by visually increasing the size of the greenhouse. It looks really great now sans stripes.

It makes me think Indy 500 pace car, not a bad thing.

Just maybe not the right thing.

Without seeing it in person I'd hold off on any opinion, the details of how this crosses panel gaps can be very important.

I'd love a second 'Vette.(And a third, and fourth....) The same goes for the X150, I love the 2008-2009 4.2L Portfolio Convertible, 2012-20?? XKR-S Coupe, 2011 XKR Coupe, 2009 XK Coupe.

If I wanted decals I would take this.

I think the decal was used a bit on the XKR75

Its fascinating how unevolved, inefficient and outright moronic man is in attracting the opposite gender.
I can think of a million things from fake smoke stacks on pickups to rimz on junk cars.
Not only do women not have a thing wrong, they have evolved to using the things man uses to attract his buddies, like jeeps.

Does anything else come close to attracting a man and his buddies?

It is interesting reading the ideas of those who are surrounded by different sets of people.
