Default Picked up Saturday 1/17/15

2011 XK

11,700 Miles

Original Sale Date 12/13/2011.

Color: CHP
Trim: SEP

Anybody know what those initials mean.

I found one paint site that said CHP was Caviar Pearl but the color they showed looked nothing like mine.

great looking ride, how much did you pay? keep that beautiful leather clean and supple, I really like gliptone liquid leather from england, works great on my 2010 and smells like old english leather. ENJOY

Fantastic looking car and the interior complements the colour beautifully.

I too use the Gliptone products and have done for years.

SEP is Caramel interior. That Caviar paint is pretty rare, and a favourite of mine (but the XKR 75 only comes in Stratus Grey, so no choice).

Surprisingly, one Jag salesman told me Caviar had the lowest resale value of any color. Of course he did not have one to sell.

Thanks for the tip on the leather conditioner, I will have to try some.

Have not seen one that color, but I think it looks great; especially with that interior. I like rare colors. Looks like a burgundy color to me which would be a plus if I were buying.

Hope you enjoy the XK coupe as much as I have enjoyed mine over the past 4.5 years.

Being pearlescent, Caviar tends to look different depending on the lighting. The basic colour is a burgundy-black, but it can take on a more purplish 'grape' tone. It's quite luscious. I guess it might not suit everyone, but then if we were only worried about resale, we'd all buy silver cars. When I was looking, I'd have gone out of my way to view a Caviar XKR, but there were none around at the time.

Looks great and a very unique color. I'm kind of naming it the Grape shade.

I'm going with "wine". For reasons obvious or otherwise!

Interesting; Caviar was 3.3% of production in 2011, more than Cashmere, Frost Blue, Salsa Red or Spectrum Blue (all 1.6%). It was 2.3% in 2012, equal lowest with Italian Racing Red & Ultimate Black. They dropped it in 2013, when Ultimate Black was up to 33% (I guess maybe they released it late 2012, hence the small sales that year).

So, I revise my statement: rare, not the rarest, but one of the rarest desirable colours ;-) - some people seem to hanker after Salsa Red, too.

So if I did the math correctly then I have 1 of 12 produced for the US market. Thanks for the info.
