Default Pulled the trigger on a new 2012 XKR vert

Hey Guys,

I finally pulled the trigger on a sweet new 2012 Indigo Blue on Tan Sport seats XKR convertible! It has under 1,000 miles and was actually used all last year as Jaguar Canada's show car. Apparently it traveled around various golf courses and corporate events but soon it will be mine. I won't actually get it until early April so now I am soaking up XKR info from this site like a sponge!

I look forward to many years of proud Jag ownership and of course, a continued reliance on this forum's advice and wisdom!

Cheerio as they say!

Thanks! Funny thing is, that's the color combo I was originally thinking but on a new 2013 XK coupe (my max limit $ wise). Then they show me this 2012 XK-R convertible they just got from Jaguar Canada in the same colour scheme for the same price. I have to admit I got a little weak in the knees! 510HP instead of 385, same price, same warranty, new car... where do I sign? (lol)

Needless to say I'm counting down the days...

Gorgeous! Hope you have a lot of sunny, warm days to put that top down. I've got mine down everyday (well, it does rain about 5 days/year here in L.A.). My first convertible, and I'd never be without one again. (though I do love the coupe too). Great purchase and good luck.

My best advice is to get it up to Mosport ASAP so you can really enjoy and appreciate that beauty! I bought a Jaguar Canada car a little over a year ago and had it on the track within 24 hours...but that's only because I had a couple of things I had to do first!

Enjoy,

Bruce

Default Nice Kitty!

Based on the pictures of your new Jag ... you need to stop taking those one-a-day vitamins ... and switch to one-a-day Viagra smoothies! Something tells me that you're going to be one very tired guy! Welcome to the club. Enjoy your new cat and keep her sparkling!

Man, that is both awesome and hilarious at the same time!

The car's not even in the garage yet and my wife's already jealous of the attention I'm devoting to it!

Default Wives Jealous Of Jags

I know what you mean. My wife of 42 years was jealous of my Jag too when I brought it home. So here's how I delicately handled that. I lovingly said to her, "Honey, ANY guy can get a wife, but DAMN FEW GUYS can get a Jag!" She seemed to understand exactly what I was trying to say ... and the best part was ... the swelling went down in a few days and I was able to see again. And a week after that ... she gave me my keys back. In retrospect ... I think it was a small price to pay to know that she understands just what my Jag really means to me! Give it a try! Worked for me!

You see, this is the kind of solid advice I was hoping to find here! Very funny, thanks Snide72! Here are the lines of reasoning I've tried so far:

"Honey, the kids are small, they'll fit in the back, trust me!"

"It's better on gas than the 07 E550 I'm getting rid of!"

"The insurance is less!" - It actually is less by $300 a year - don't ask me why (lol)

"We are saving money living in the suburbs, and now I don't mind the long commute!"

"I won't fall asleep at the wheel anymore on the way home!"
(Seriously, I've had the head bobs a couple of times driving the E550 home... great car, but just so laid back I want to take a nap... just not a dirt nap!)

Any other spousal excuses out there??

Congrats...I also have that color combination and love it. I have the lowly XK..2010, not the XKR.. :-)..but the XK is plenty fast enough for me...and I can only imagine the XKR's acceleration...mind blowing. Mine was an early birthday present from me to me...she asked "why a Jaguar"? I told her that anyone could drive a Lexus (we have an RX) or BMW, Audi or MB...but there are darn few Jaguar XK convertibles around...and THAT is true..LOL

Nice car dlcole! I'm obviously a fan of that colour combo and as you say the rarity of the car is great compared to those other cars that seem everywhere. From what I've read the 2010 XK is quite close to the 09 XKR in power and the exhaust sounds great so you did well grabbing the 10! Cheers!

Sharx8, I believe the '09 XK has a 4.2L/300hp engine and the '10 and newer have the newer 5L/385 hp engine.. The indigo and cashmere color combination just worked for me. I would of also settled for a burgundy and cashmere combination..

I really like the seats and interior of your car...striking!! to say the least. I'm not sure I could handle an "R"...too much power for me..:-)...but they certainly are popular around here (Dallas/Fort Worth). You car is beautiful!!

David
