Default Question for RHD owners..... 2007-2009 models

So for you folks that own right hand drive models....(2007-2009)
Can you tell me what sides your backup lights and rear fog lights are on(left/right)?

I have been looking into replacing my backup lamp (right side) with another red fog lamp, and wonder if international versions of our car were different than here in the US. The UK folks on fleabay dont seem to understand my question.....

Thanks,
Vince

Vince,

The short answer is YES. Our RHD cars have the Reversing / Fog lamps the other way round to your LHD.

Only one Reversing Lamp is fitted. It's in the LH Inner Lamp on RHD vehicles and in the RH Inner Lamp on LHD vehicles.

Similarly, the Fog lamp is located in the RH Inner Lamp on RHD vehicles and the LH Inner Lamp on LHD vehicles.

Thanks, i was pretty sure that was the case, but when talking to an eBay vender selling from the UK, they could not tell me anything except the right side has a clear lens (duh). Even when I pressed them they were confused....
Sure seems odd to make two seperate part numbers for one car.... Wonder what the logic is for switching them between countries?
Laws i guess.... always closest to the center of the road...
Now to make sure i get UK version!

Some further detail on the circuit / switching from the Workshop Manual may help:

With the change you are considering, a second Fog lamp fed directly from the original with a cable across the tailgate concealed behind the trim should work OK.

That's the reason. Unfortunately the design logic fails when I take my car over the Channel to mainland Europe and drive on the other side of the road.

When I first saw the car, I thought it a strange decision not to combine the Reverse and Fog Lamps in the same assembly so they were paired on each side like earlier models.

I believe it's Regulations - it was decided that having only one rear fog light made it easier to distinguish fogs from brakes. It's something that I very much support, having experienced some confusion (panic) on motorways in the past when someone switched their rear fogs on, because it looked like they'd hit their brakes. I suspect that having the fog on one side and reversing light on the other was a natural consequence.

I had it installed in my previous 2007 XK..it was great. I listen to XM often.. so I can’t comment on the FM radio quality..

the ACM had very good sound quality. The dealer acted confused when they installed it. They wanted $350 for just the install. I negotiated it down to $170.

I purchased the kit new on eBay for $320.
