Hell yeah it works. Use it everyday.

quick story on how I discovered it. (I sat through yours)
Staying in a brand new 4 star hotel long term. Becomes second family, they temporarily comp me the presidential suite (by their standards) which is reserved for the once in a blue moon a reviewer who shows up. (we should all be reviewers)
There is a bit of a party at the bar, which somehow ends up in my room. One of the idiots smokes a cigarette in the bathroom.
Housekeeping knocks few hours later in the morning- this is one of those assigned to only this room maids, the Swiss matron types. I tell her to go away come back tomorrow.
She screams she can smell cigarette smell coming from my room, and gets the manager. Who is now screaming through the door how can you do this to us, to our best room on our best floor.
5 minutes later maintenance arrives with one of these handheld ozone generators that I had read all about but dubious.
They make me stand outside and 15 minutes later the world is no longer going to hell in a hand basket.

They are now ubiquitous for home use. I have these

and its essentially the same thing. You could use this in the Jag too. But will take more time. If you get the 110 plug in type

Thanks
Yeah I am tempted to get that one for outside the home, cars, basement.

Another one of PK's quick and simple threads, my bet is 5 pages.

Yep, I even use an Oreck in my workshop to kill the smell of varnish and sealers. Don't know if one would fit easily in the cabin or our cars as they are somewhat large, worth a try though.

Its a test by our Alien Overlords.
In the stone ages they put a group of men in a cave and it resulted in a circle j.
Few hundred years later they gave us all Jaguars and observing what good can come of it.

Well said. That's why this Forum is so successful - a diverse group of members with a common interest in an object of their affection.

Its a double-edged sword.
On paper, a stereotypical Jaguar owner is aloof and fiercely independent; not the kind to huddle in any group; that's why he chose a Jaguar in the first place.

Perhaps the internet affords that huddle from a safe distance.

Welp. It's been a month since the Lysol Debacle. For the schadenfreude crowd: it still smells. I still feel stupid for doing it. It's better, and I'm fortunate in that I'm in southern California so windows down is always an option (and I've got a convertible, so...).
Anyway, I talked to the effects/demolition guys on our show-- don't laugh, they take apart and put together VERY nice rides. We blew up an E-Class just last week. So the consensus is: I gotta get in there and wipe the inside of the ductwork out as much as possible to get the dried residue off. They recommend a very mild (5-10%) vinegar solution in water. They say any vinegar-y odor (and there won't be much) will go away quick, and you won't be just trying to cover scent with scent.
(They agreed with the ozone idea but pointed out that I'd have to do it every few days for a long time, as that Lysol residue will probably be off-gassing for a while.)
So.... I think I'm good on reaching in from the engine bay.... any tips on accessing the ductwork from the footwells? Never done that...

Also: now that it's mellower, my girlfriend doesn't mind the scent at all. And she points out that the rancid mold/mildew odor, which was pretty strong sometimes, is gone. Not masked, but GONE. And she's right. So there's that.
And thinking about it, maybe the basic idea is solid: use the system's intake to draw something into the system that would kill whatever was causing the odor. I simply picked the wrong product, and used WAY too much of it...

Should be straightforward. Just turn the fan on high and recycle and you should be able to feel where the air is being sucked in.

I would have not had any trouble with Lysol smell, but you are sensitive so should mention, vinegar smells like douche, and vinegar will bleach stuff it gets on, its an acid. One other thing you can do is remove that air filter you put in and spray there.

Yep, that's my plan. Just wondered if there was some accessible part to remove that would really get me into the ductwork quickly.
Apparently it's the acid in the vinegar that will help the most in all this. And, yeah, a LIGHT spray of the mixture.
And yes I'm sensitive to the Lysol smell. I'm that guy who, if I walk into a hotel room that's been "overcleaned" and has that chemical odor, I need a new room.

I have something akin to this in all my cars, and it does a great job of eliminating odors. The one in my XKR also has a voltage readout.
