My X100 has been repainted well, new leather, new wood, perfect service history and records, timing components, all hoses, rebuilt suspension, refinished wheels, recent brakes, fuel pumps and wires, recent windshield, tires with 5k on them, tons of fluid/filter/belt changes, etc. It is religiously maintained and ready to go. It has 107k and is a great car. Car was repainted because I was keyed at a bridal shower on the left side (and I didn't want half a job so I paid the difference to get the whole car done at 95k miles). I've put 5k just in parts with no labor costs in 8 years and 40k miles, not including 2 sets of tires, and stuff like tune up and preventative maintenance. I've probably spent 10k if you factor that in; and maybe 15k if my labor weren't free.

It's an 8k car on a good day, so I'm just planning on enjoying it. These cars are GREAT values to buy, X100 or X150, if you can work a wrench and accept that your money put in gets you smiles and miles, but won't necessarily affect resale.

 

I would have no reason to avoid a car with a repaint providing the repaint is disclosed, and there are before pictures of why the repaint was done.

 

I'll be honest, if I find a blown engine or flood damaged XK for cheap I'll body swap my //R into it. It's bad enough that a case of flat black Rustoleum will be an improvement.

 

Hmm, a flat or matte black XKR. I think that would look bad ***.

 

I'll admit I'm not a huge fan in most cases, but there are times where a wrap, or plastidip can make a car that is not worth it, look OK. As, long as you don't go too wild with it, and the actual body is in decent shape to begin with.

Back to the OP: I'm going to go in a different direction. Since you're willing to be in the 25K ballpark for the car, what about one of these?

Yes, the car you're looking at has VERY low miles. But count me in the camp that thinks A) there's such a thing as too few miles, and B) previous care, location, and what kind of miles were put on the car (say, 400 highway commuting miles a week in southern california VS. short winter trips in the northeast) are more important than what's on the odometer. Plus, I really like the look and powertrain of the 2010 models, but I know that's subjective.
I know you like the blue with light interior. Not my thing, but many like it. Anyway, here ya go. I am a convertible only guy (and they resell better, if that's ever on the horizon for you), so that's what I searched for. The second car I think is particularly handsome. And I'd also go low on the price on one of these, see what happens.

And they are priced identical.
It establishes one thing, the dealer is fair and not overpriced.
