I have had a request to use my Jag in a parade. With 2 young ladies approx 100 # each. sitting on the cover with the top down. I am in doubt as to the covers ability to carry this weight. Does anyone have any experience??

 

Those rollover hoops deploy with a massive amount of force, and have a small spear to break the rear window when the top is up. I have never heard of one going off unintentionally, but the thought of sitting over them in a moving vehicle makes me uncomfortable.

 

I have also been asked to participate in an upcoming July 4th parade . I was concerned they wanted someone to sit on the lid but when I asked they said they wouldn't do this because of liability concerns. Also some of the Corvette guys with the 60's cars wouldn't let anyone sit on the backs so all is good. The more I think about it even if they wanted to do it I won't let it happen.

 

just thinking about somebody sitting there makes me cringe.

 

It may be illegal also. Some states require all passengers to use seat belts, and not around their feet either. However if it is a slow moving parade that might not be an issue.
