Default Red growler on grill

Just got back from Jag dealer. They had 2015 xk convert white, black top. All new ones have a red growler badge on the front grill and red growler inserts on the wheels. LOOKED GREAT! Does anybody know if you can replace the growler emblem on a 2009 grill with a new red growler emblem? Also can you just replace entire 2009 grill with 2014 or 15 grill with the red emblem? Thanks

Yes the growler can be changed, I did it to my '08 XKR with some minor modification to the mount on the grille but the grille has to come off and the only way to do that is to drop the bumper.

The grille however cannot be changed without a full facelift.

The center cap on the wheels can be changed easily enough, but who would even notice the difference? I'd consider the front growler if the bumper removal wasn't involved.

I believe the grille badge on jahummer's car is from the F-type, as I wanted to do this to my grille as well. However, it's not worth taking off the grille and/or bumper. The XKR badge does not have the reflective glass around the growler, it's simply black enamel. Next week when I get my car back from it's other cosmetic upgrades, I am going to use some red enamel paint and hand paint the black to red. I don't think it should be too difficult. I have already purchased the red hub covers. At the last moment, yesterday, I chose to have my Kalimnos painted gloss black instead of silver, and I saw them today, and they look good. Once they're back on the car, with the red caps and the 60 torx screws back on I'll post some pictures. The rest of the car goes into paint tomorrow for some touch ups and the spraying of the new rear bumper/diffuser to match (although I briefly toyed with painting the lower half of the bumper, the diffuser part, black, but I decided to do body color).

Stay tuned!

Here's a few more pics.

The F-type and 2014 XKR have the same growler in the grille. It fits perfectly in the concave recess once you trim the old style growler mount.

Dropping the bumper is not difficult just a PITA with all of the screws & clips. But well worth it in my humble opinion.

Looks like you added aftermarket LEDs around your headlights. Can you provide details?
Thanks.

What holds the growler in the grill. Is it screwed in or held with 2 sided tape.

bobdr1, if you haven't got sorted yet i gave some information on this to a fellow member. If you look for the thread 'Front XKR badge' posted by stevepalmerUK i gave him some info and pics of how i changed mine on my 07. He wanted to put on the R badge , so i had some details on both badges. Hope it helps.

Thanks.

In someone else's thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-110636/page2/ I posted mods I did to my headlights. Amazingly I had the hardest time finding quality LED strips, considering how long they have been around and how popular they are.

Anyhow they are Alpena purchased from Advance Auto using a 40% off coupon. They feature a white background with 5030 SMDs and are blindingly bright.

I mounted them inside the lens behind the existing frosted rim around the edge of the lens to help give them a more diffuse light. The goal was to replicate the look of the 2012+ headlights. The wiring is spliced into the running lights so when they are on, the LEDs are on.

Here's another pic. I have not had the car out at night since I did it but would like to post pics once I do.

Just so I have this clear, you take off the bumper to expose back of grill, then unscrew the original badge and screw in the new one. This is not just a sticker you stick on top correct? Is it part # C2P25690. thanks

I just got back from the dealer and he gave me the part number for the red badge as C2P23670. Price: $69.51. I did not ask what it took to change it but, previous posts suggested that the badge was glued into its base.

The original growler is indeed screwed in. You will also note the original protrudes from the face of the grille and not flush like the current ones. It is hollow and the grille has a somewhat matching protrusion that fits inside the growler which will need to be carefully cut off. I used a Dremel and was left with enough of a recessed lip for the new growler to rest on. I made a large metal washer for the rear side and screwed it all back together.

The final result is the growler is flush with the grille and fits the opening so perfectly it looks like the factory made it that way.

The part # you cited is not correct, that one is too small and intended for the XJ. The other part number mentioned might be correct but let me cheek my invoice and see what the part number was for mine.

Well I was wrong, according to the package from Jaguar the part number is indeed C2P25690

And I paid $42 for it.
