I got a remote 9500ci Escort to put in my 08 XKR. Doe anyone have any experience with what works good for the installation of the remote control head, alert LED, and remote display head in the cabin area. I am considering putting the remote display unit in the upper part of the cluster and the remote control head down by shift console. I have also considered putting the remote display up on the rear view mirror and the LED in the upper part of the instrument cluster...any suggestions or any response from anyone that has seen this unit installed would help. I have this kit and installed the main remote panel in the ashtray (hidden behind the door when closed) and put the green LED in the speedo panel and the remote visual display on top of the rear view mirror. All looks pretty "stealthy" which is what I wanted since I've got a convertible. Honestly not real impressed with this unit vs. a valentine, but I didn't want to worry about putting it up & down every time I parked.

 

Thanks for the response. I have the convertible as well. Your placement sounds really good...I like the idea of under cover "in the ashtray" for the remote control head. I was considering putting the display head on the rear view mirror but was wondering if putting it in the speedo cluster surround (cut in the plastic surround where the upper screw cover insert is) would make for a stealthy installation with good visibility while driving with the thought of being a little more discreet than the rear view mirror location...my one concern is that it would not be as visable thru the steering wheel on alert....I have gotton used to the rear view mirror location for radar dectector viewing. I would venture any location that an officer can see would seal up a ticket regardless...
