Default Roof wont go down

I just upgrade to a 2007 XK8 from an 05, very pleased. I just changed the battery which helped my instrument panel but now my top wont go down and I get the luggage cover out of position message, Much written about this but having to take all the panels out and the cover and seems something just isnt back in place properly. The cover has been played with for over an hour with no success. There are a few screws missing for the panels but they are snug. Any opinions please? With the 05 there is a reset touching the battery cables but unsure fro the 07.

Welcome to the X150 Forum! You'll find lots of knowledgeable and helpful members here. Almost every question you can think of has already been asked and answered, so learn to use the Advanced Search function for advice.

Forum member WhiteXKR (Steve, the Jag Wrangler) is the convertible top guru. You probably already know him from the X100 (XK8) Forum and his remote control top kit. He has one for the X150 and I highly recommend it.

See this thread from 2015 and follow WhiteXKR's advice. Make sure that your battery is fully charged.

That little clip on the left side of the divider needs to be in place so it can trip the switch on the divider rail.
Is that little clip there? Compare Left and Right sides where the rear-most fold-up lower cross rail connects.

I should also add that the rear windows wont go up. I understsand from reading its because of low voltage and then the battery change for the roof. I did do the reset but it hasnt worked. The mans manual said I would have to drive for 14 kms. I realize much written but again looking at a phoen screen and doin my best.

The clip is where the green outline is, at the end of the red arrow in the second picture.
I lifted the end a tiny bit to better see where it is.

That female plug in the boot is for a Shipping Relay, meant for shipping new from Coventry so the batteries don't go flat on new vehicles. It does nothing now and isn't needed.
Otherwise...
Did you reset the Window Travel Limit? That 'shouldn't' matter, but you never know.

Ive also tried the 1 turn counter clockwise, noting happened. And it was a torx, not an allen key. Like th e05 is there a way to manually get this top down?

With the cover there is much mentioned about the clip and being metal. I dont see anything metal in the pics or on my cover. Is the metal the same color as the plastic? I guess this clip could have come off when taking the cover out but I see nothing that is metal in pics on on my cover.

Here is a picture of the black metal divider clip at the end of the divider cover rail. If it is missing, and you have the cover warning message, the top will absolutely not work. Check carefully for it in the trunk if it is missing. It may have fallen out and be lying somewhere in the trunk.

Here is a pic of the runner end, looks a little different than the one provided but I see there is no insert if there should be one? Looked everywhere and only found a clean small peice of plastic an dits not discolored like this end of the runner.. If Im missing it can I substitute with anything metalic?. Also if I can have some further help please. I have the top down but it wont lock down and pops up about an inch. NOthing in the manual, Thanks to all that have replied.
