The time is now. House is sold, downsizing continues, retirement is within 2 years, houses are gone, debt is "normal", ready to buy.

XKR Convertible:
Preferences: 2011 - 2015, 5.0, Polaris white, polished wheels (there were XKRs made in 2014-2105 - minimal but they do exist, not like the Jaguar salesman at the local dealer tried to tell me today)
Will consider: 2007 - 2010, 4.2 or 5.0

I passed on a 2008 4.2 XKR Convertible (Seafrost Green/Ivory Charcoal) Convertible with 34,800 miles for $23,999 in December 2019 in Denver, Colorado (just retired from military, loads of debt, "mountain" house still in final stages of being built/remodeled & lived on a steep, non-maintained gravel mountain road).

I passed on a 2012 5.0 XKR Convertible (Polaris White/Black) with 55,650 miles for $30,999 in October 2022 in Scottsdale, Arizona ("mountain" house was now sold but the replacement house was listed for sale but not yet sold, debt load was even higher than before, but now had a normal paved road - some forward progress). If the owner of this car is a member of this forum, or if anyone knows of this car, I would appreciate hearing from you via PM

I don't know why you want to start your search with 2011, as the 2010s were the same everything as the 2011s except every one of the 2010s have Adaptive Cruise Control from the factory. Very few other XKs have ACC. You 'will consider' a 2010, but that should be in your primary search.

Brewtech, Yes, they are but perhaps there is a forum member who has been considering selling the one they own and would like to reach out to me.

Also, perhaps there is a forum member who has a neighbor or a friend that has one for sale but the neighbor or friend is not a forum member.

Finally, perhaps a forum member is aware of one for sale in their area and will contact me to let me know this, and then offer to go check in-person for me to give me their impression, saving me a trip only to find out the car is not worth the effort.

I just noticed.... the center section of the front air dam is missing on that particular car.

Dealer unsure of tire condition, 2 small dents: trunk lid and one of the doors, salt is used on roads - dealer said people with these cars don't drive when salt is being used, extra expense to remove black wheels & buy chrome polished/non-black wheels, 3 owners per Carfax: NY, FL, IA - 1st owner: fleet service for 3 months, 2nd owner almost 9 years - sold/traded in 09/2021 and sold at auto auction 02/2022, 3rd owner 11 months - traded it for a truck 11/2022; accident reported 09/2012
2. 2010 Porcelain color: Pre-Owned 2010 Jaguar XK XKR Convertible in Sarasota #MW22268B | Jaguar Sarasota
   1. Dent in driver's door, salt air, not white; I spoke to an auto appraiser and for $600 he could inspect this car. He said my salt air concerns are valid

   1. $60k is high, not white

   1. bad dealer reviews was the primary driving factor, in addition to not being white, for passing on this one but it has sold, $32k, 51k miles

   1. $39k is more than what we want to pay, salt air..... if this car was $31k or less (the 10/2022 Scottsdale, AZ XKR was white with $55k miles without polished wheels for $31k-we passed because of real estate sale issues - since resolved) I would be more interested, even if though it is not white

   1. $39k is more than what we want to pay, not white, 4.2L, low miles at $8k - low miles are both a positive and a negative...but it is enticing because of the low miles

   1. not white, salt air, interior & seats look very "tired/worn", current dealer bought it at auction, 112k miles is higher than what I wanted but the price is enticing at $17.5k...maybe the miles are not an issue for that price?? (I don't know....buy one at $28k - $31k with 50k miles and see it depreciate to $17k in a few years), - auction sales are a concern for me also - means car was not sellable by another dealer or another dealer found/knows something that dictated an auction was the best method to selling it

Looks like you’ve decided to pass on this car so my comments may be moot, but for the record: RUN, don’t walk, from GotSpeed. In my recent experience of the past few years they were by far the most dishonest, lying excuse for used car salesmen that I have encountered.

 

I have heard several similar comments about GotSpeed, unless they were all from you.

 

Sorry to hear that, they’re the only ones that have had anything close to what I would jump at.

 

I saw a FB classified listing today for a 2012 white XKR vert in Stafford VA just south of DC. 65k miles. Meets much of your criteria Price seems it is on the high end but is a private sale so maybe can negotiate down. Worth a look anyway.
