Side Marker Eliminated.....GOOD/Aston Martin Grill on a XKR.....BAAD!
So I came across this pic and notice they eliminated the amber side marker inside the headlight. I know some people were trying to figure out how to remove it. Then I noticed the aston martin grill. Nothing wrong with the AM grill as I think it looks good but not on a Jag!
Anyways....I emailed them to see how they removed the amber sidemarker inside the headlight.....hopefully they will reply back.
Looks to me they have seperated the glass/plastic, as it looks like they have also painted the bezel and chrome effect inside the lamp..... I quite like that, stealth look which works well on a black XK
Have to agree about the front grill always a bad move when you take such a distinct characteristic such as the AM grill and put it on a completely different car, something I would never do!

That is one sweet looking vehicle, and I think the AM grill looks very stunning.
As for the headlamps:
Remove the headlamp assembly from the vehicle, remove all rubber and light bulbs from unit, place in oven set at 200 degrees for 8 minutes, using oven mitts remove, begin prying where the clear lens meets the black casing, put back in oven for 4/5 minutes repeat until you are able to seperate into 2 pieces.
The oven loosens the sealant very nicely.

Brutal....definitely Jaguar should offer an optional manual eventhough these days car makers are moving towards DCT/SCT over manual.
So I didn't get an reply email from them regarding how to remove the sidemarker. Looking at pics when I remove the headlights in the past....it looks like there are clips to hold the clear lense ot the headlight unit. Most likely if I remove the clips......the clear lense will pop out from the unit. I'll have to check it out when I remove the headlights next time. Thanks guys for the info!

The clear lens will not "pop" off when clips are removed, the clips were installed to hold assembly together while adhesive cured. I have cut the seam on Viper and Ferrari to refinish the interior then glue back - have not tried on Jag yet, but I am considering a project on my XKR Portfolio, If I do will upload photos
I can definately confirm the clips do nothing apart from what Jeffrey has said, I did look myself some time ago as I was asked to make some new bezels up with LEDs in them for a DRL, I did a very similar thing on a DB9. The XK plastic cover is glued on well, the oven idea would be a good one, just don't over cook it

That DB9's LED DRLs looks pretty nice XKRacer. Wonder if you can do something like that for the X150's as I like how it's integrated inside the headlight unit instead of the strip outside.
Jeffrey Brewer: Please do share DYI pics if you do take apart the headlight unit.
Thanks!

Thanks!
If you can get one apart and send the bezel to me, I could do it no probs.
I do not have any X150 light units hanging around here to try it on
