Smile A small mod that should be standard..pics inside

It's amazing that doing such a small mod can create such a better look with the
cabin lighting from the standard dull ugly yellow lighting to LED. I changed my
dome light, two map lights, foot wells, glove box, trunk bulbs and license plate
to all LED and I'm beyond pleased with the results! The only thing I didn't
change yet are the bulbs that are on the underside of each door...called
puddle?? I don't know if the 2010's and up have LED cabin lightning but it
seriously should be standard. The difference in lighting between the two is
astronomical. It's fairly easy to change out all the bulbs. The only bulb that
was a pain in the azz was the glove box bulb. Blindly trying to insert the new
bulb because the space is so small and you can't see the socket was very
aggravating and tedious. After many attempts over I somehow got the bulb in. If
anyone wants to know which bulbs I used for each let me know. Here are some
pics.

Cheers. Mike

I can appreciate the work, kudos.... but it looks way to bright to be comfortable on my eyes. (I cringe at bright lights at night because they seriously hurt!)

I've been wanting to change my foot wells to red, along with the overhead shift illuminater.

Vince, thanks for your comments. The foot wells are super easy to change and there is no bulb cover so you're not too limited. Red down there would be pretty cool! You know I didn't even think about changing the overhead shift illuminater but just might now. Everything is indeed very bright inside the cabin and you can actually see things and or find things. I personally love it and think it's way better than the useless ugly yellow lighting but hey maybe that's just me. To me it looks like that how the lighting should come from the factory vs sub-standard "old fashion" yellow bulbs.

Glad you were able to complete your mod. To my eyes, it looks more like a crime scene from CSI or an interrogation room. I prefer the warm look of the standard bulbs, just as I prefer the look of incandescent light bulbs around the house to those fluorescent lights.

Default Puddle light mod

This is the puddle light mod you want (been trying to find a leaper, might have to make one):

Looks good! I've done this conversion 4-5 years ago and have no problems with the bulbs. The xks are easy compared to my rover which was a PITA to swap to leds. It's brighter and whiter....more of a modern look. I personally like it better. Now when I go to my other cars with incandescent interior bulbs, it looks yellowish and not as bright.

Mike...that pretty sweet. Car makers are now doing this on their vehicles as standard. My Rover has an etching of my car when the puddle lights are on.

I like that Ghost! Did you know when you bought it or was it a cool surprise you discovered after taking it home? The latter is so rewarding.

Is it just me or does LR do a lot cooler things than Jag?

This shadow light, the split screen NAV... and more I'm sure. Odd since their the same company.

That's a coincidence.

Almost exactly the same puddled thread in the S Type section above.

2 or 3 different options apparently.

I didn't notice it until after 1 week of owning the car. Was a pleasant suprise! I believe the new 2013 Range Rover also has it but it just shows "RANGE ROVER" on the puddle lights. I think because the XK, XF, XJ has been around for awhile, they probably won't install these until they are redesign....just a guess. Being that Jaguar is the parent company of JLR, you would think they will have them in Jaguars also. Would be curious if the new F-Type has a logo in the puddle lights.

Keep us updated on the ones you ordered!

Well... if you've already got through the bulbs; a list would be nice.

Just look in the puddle lamp post guys.

I take it your looking for the attached.

They come in either a drill unit you tap into the puddle lamp leads or a no-drill unit which replaces the puddle lamp.

There is also a really cool growler but couldn't find that one yet. May just have to buy the lens and swap.
