Another guy came in to get an ECU tune on his 2008 Xk. I quickly checked it over, ran some basic diagnostics. He had all kinds of Cel codes. Under the hood I noticed: Spectre intake filter and 200kpa expansion tank cap, I told him it's not what Is supposed to be on there and for safe measures he should get the properly rated cap of 120 kpa. ( I myself run 110kpa)
Also I noticed that his fuel trims were as high as + 25 with the car idling. I told him about this And that MAF might be suspect or a possible vacuum leak. He told me he replaced maf sensors , And he starts bragging how he saved a bunch of money by not buying a Jaguar part but buying maf on Aliexpress instead , he went on and on how they are all the same and oem is a waste of money. I tried explaining but He didn't want to listen to My attempts to explain why a properly calibrated MAF
sensor is very important and each car intake is different, I tried and tried. Very interesting when someone is trying to teach you the opposite from what you know damn well from lots of experience 🤣. At the end I gave up, I told him hey fix your car and when it runs properly you can come back to get a tune. He actually appeared mad that I couldn't tune his car with his perfectly working AliExpress maf unit, 200 kpa expansion tank cap, Spectre intake and who knows what else is going on there. He also thought I can just Tune the ECU and get rid of all his check engine lights as well. He think I do magic I suppose 🙂
After he left I got a text message

😁 😁 Cant argue with an expert customer I guess 😊😉
Some people!!!
Be thankful you did not do anything for him, that is one you’d want to avoid not worth the hassle you would
most definitely encounter afterwards.
💯 That's why, to encourage him, I showed him my agreement which basically says I'm not responsible for car blowing up due to stupidity in maintenance 😁
