Hello, has anyone had a similar issue with the B&W sound system? I can’t find anything in forums. I have a Jaguar XKR 2011. Since I bought the car, I've noticed that there is a lack of sound coming from all the speakers. The quality of sound is maybe good? But I always have to leave it at max volume to satisfy my ears. Today I finally decided to remove the amplifier and check the wires. So I found out that if I plug any speaker in the car into PIN 9 and PIN 3, the speaker starts playing really well and loudly. Could this be an issue with the amplifier or somewhere else? I took a look inside the amplifier, and everything visually is clean there. I really don't want to waste money on a new amplifier for no reason.
by using 3 and 9 you are effectively Bi-Amping the output (making it twice as loud).... if not all individual channels are providing power output, there is a very very very big chance the MOSFETS are blown (the actual transistors that pump up the volume).. these amplifiers are not that expensive on ebay (I have a spare one, but I'm sure the postage would be insanely high - if you are not in the middle east)
I actually went the other route and installed an aftermarket amp (Audison AP F8.9.) which could also work with the premium head units (you need an optical converter).. for me .. after tuning the sound is waaaaay better than the stock one.. and even better than I remember from my premium '07 version.. and much louder too
