Default Speed Bleeder fitment for 2010+ XK's

Unless the XKR/XKRs variants have special rotors the correct Speed Bleedr fitment for my 2012 XK (2010+ should be same) 4 - SB1010s. One for each corner. They should be OE equipment on every car in the 21st Century!

Thanks for the info. I had worked with the folks at Speedbleeder to get a kit for my older Ferrari and I would use them once a year to bleed the brake system. A little overkill but for a 30+ year old car fluid changes kept the cost of hard to find parts down. These work great and makes for an easy 1 man job in bleeding the brake system. A trick I used to use was get a different color brake fluid and bleed until the color change comes in. I'd start by sucking out all of the brake fluid from the MC bottle using a turkey baster. Fill with new fluid and bleed starting at the further-est corner working forward. It took longer to pull the wheels then to bleed the system.

Surprised the industry hasn't made these standard equipment yet. Pressure bleeding sucks (haha). This is as easy and readily available as it gets. Once a year all vehicles get 3-5 pedals per nipple. Surprising what a difference it makes and also my master cylinders get a complete workout etc. I have NEVER had any brake related issues since using these.

I get so much resistance from the old scholl pressure/vacuum crowd thinking they know best. Its the 21st century and these are the first performance/service mod I do on every vehicle I own!!

ddsski, did the SB1010s speed bleeders work well on your XK? Is it all 4 SB1010 or the shorter SB1010S? I need to get a set for my 2010 XK. Thanks.

Real simple and a cool idea. All it is ,is a check valve in the bleeder nipple used on brake calipers or cylinders. It allows one to bleed your brakes to change brake fluid without any assistance or a costly pressure or vacuum bleeder. You just replace your present nipples with these and bleed the brake fluid when you want. Speed Bleeder Bleeding Brakes Bleeding Motorcycle Brakes Automotive Bleeder Screw Brake Bleeder

Smile Speed bleeders for 2010 XK

For my 2010 XK, I used 4 SB1010S units. The original bleeder screws require a 10 mm wrench, the SB1010S require an 11 mm.

Based on Whitney (the Speed Bleeder representative I spoke to; speedbleeder.com), I did not purchase the stainless steel version because, as she said, your Jag sits in the garage when there is snow treatment, right, so why order the more expensive ones - stick to the original OEM material.

And that is what I did.

This is a straightforward exchange. The only snafu I had was taking the plastic cover off to provide access to the brake fluid. I put the 4 plastic clips on the engine cover...which rolled off into never land in the bowels of the engine compartment when I jacked the rear end up. Fortunately, I had 4 extra clips. Sigh.

More important, I did not require a warm body. My wife = warm body would not enjoy pumping the brakes and waiting while I did each wheel, which require jacking up the car and removing each wheel. Even with her kindle, based on past experience. So I made out just fine!

I also checked the brakes, rubber materials at each wheel, etc.

Psychologically, it feels good to have clean brake fluid.

Highly recommended if you do your own work.

According to JEPC, a bleed screws are identical for all S-type, XF, XJ (X350 and X351) and X150 XK, except for a Brembo (X350 or S-type R) or Alcon (X150 XKR) calipers.

Do you guys know you can check for the qty of moisture in your brake fluid? Also, can test anti-freeze coolant for continued protection.
