Stone guard prototype
With only 11K miles on my car I am starting to see potential stone damage on the front rocker panels. So I am either thinking of clear vinyl or stone guard paint or a rubber deflector. I just modeled this up to see what it looks like and maybe I'll do a pair in rubber to see haw it would work out.
Looks too basic and cheap.
I had by car vinyl protected 12" when I bought it new with 300 miles. I noticed my 175 I sold had some damage so I wanted to protect this car. Someone needs to come up with a moulded well designed guard to protect these cars. It is definitely a weak area.

Damn, a beer is exactly what I need. Thanks.
I'm sure if you or someone else can bang these out a lot of members on this forum will buy in. I certainly would. Going to get me a beer now. Cheers.

Jaguar makes a splash guard for both the front and rear.
In order to keep the Jaguar XKR 100% stock, you should highly consider buying and installing the OEM Jaguar splash guards.
I have them on my 2009 Jaguar XKR Portfolio Edition and have not witnessed any rock chips to the rocker panels after 16,950 miles.

There are very thin guards on the rear of the XKR. I'm not aware of any guards for the front that will significantly protect from road rash.

Here are the splash guards that were OEM Jaguar on my 2009 Jaguar XKR Portfolio.....these are on the rear only, but I am sure they could also go on the front. Hope this helps.
Also since your looking at tires, note the brand of these tires on 2009 XKR.

I believe those arch extensions on XKRs are to meet legislation regarding wheels extending beyond the bodywork. They won't have much of a protective effect, and none at all on the lower bodywork, which is what jagtoes is concerned about.

That's a thought. It would be interesting to see how effective they are. Thanks
Just an update here on my prototypes. After a thousand miles the front lower rockers are untouched with road debris. These were cut out of an off the shelf flat stoneguard / mud flap from Autozone. They are held on by spring type clip so I can remove them when I want. They extend about 3/4" below the rocker panel. Last week I got caught and had to drive over a road that was just "oil and stoned" and the rockers stayed clean. I wasn't looking for something that would hang down 3-4" but just something to protect the front. You don't notice them unless you are looking for them. So far it works for me.
